OK, I been toying with an updated logo for some time. I’ve had this one for nearly 10 years.

I want to refresh my look, but not lose my identity.

I’ve come down to these two designs after doing many many others.

Can’t decide whether to bite the bullet and change my mouse logo as well as the overall design, or change the overall design and freshen up the old mouse.

    The original mouse had braces….

I’d love you guys and gals to give me some constructive direction.

I shown a few people here, but everyone likes both, but I’m hesitant to change everything. I’d rather leave ‘something original’ just to maintain a connection. Others say that if I leave the mouse I shouldn’t change anything else either..

    HELP!!

I think you should go for the first one, a new updated logo but the same mouse only his clothes have changed showing that he has moved with the times too, think that will keep your identity while updating your look.

I would lose both the mouse and the tagline.
How’s that for throwing a wrench into the works?
    Why?
You’ve been around long enough that nobody really cares whether you use a mouse or a brush, they just know you do good work.
Perhaps people think you keep a poor little sign writing mouse in the back room and crack the whip over him.
I would lose the vertical "Drew’s" and make that a nice script on top.
    Love….Jill
    PS
If forced to choose, I like the bottom mouse, he’s cheerful.

Totally agree with Jill…..it’s almost like you are making an excuse or saying that you are superior. Which, I know, is not your intention.
The distinction was valid years ago but not now as Jill says.
They are both element of the same trade….and are at peace with one another I think 😀

If you were going to change I would do a complete overhaul as the cartoony logo is at odds with the quality work you do Shane.
    Just my honest opinion. 😀

Love the top one but was going to say the same as Jill and Harry – having not in the tagline looks bad and is a negative and to be avoided nothing wrong with signs by mouse in my mind though, – quite clever but to anything else is ott!

I don’t know how to do that fancy shiny thing but here’s a suggestion.
If you are putting the Drew’s as you have it try changing to a non-italic font.
I am glad a few people did agree, I felt like an ogre for picking on your mouse.
    😳

So whats all this knocking those that use brushes or brushwork in general
it seems to me to imply that a brush is inferior
I would pick a brush before a mouse anyday, but then us painters can offer both!

    rant over
Sorry Drew jus don’t like the tag line

    Top one ….

That’s not this guy is it Warren

Really like Jills logo, nice and simple looking (much like Jill)

Have to agree with Harry and Terry and their thoughts, the brush and the mouse CAN live together in perfect harmony, la de la de da. 😕

of the two i like the top one but hows about a new tag line? Reinvent yourself through a catchy strap line!? The need to differentiate yourself from the brush men might not be necessary but it does not harm to differentiate yourself from the competition!

😮 wow, thanks so much for the feed back. I appreciate everyones comments immensely.

The tag is actually what I’m known for. It was originally a polite way of saying I’m not a brushie, so don’t offer that service. It was not, and was never intended to be, a slur on the traditional sign peeps, and I’m surprised some here find it offensive. My sincerest apologies.

It gets me digital work from brushies tho, as they know I’m not competing for the same business. Local brushies see it as a postitive rather than a negative. Funny how people see things.

Removing the tag is a good suggestion though, I’ll certainly consider it. I’d have to drop the mouse as well, as the tag supports the graphic. I was trying to standout from everyone else at the time.

I really like Jills interpretation too and it certainly gets a new look out there.

Its made me rethink my ideas though.

Actually Warren, I did consider a caricature of myself (not a mousey version of myself tho 🙂 ), but didn’t know if it may come across as a bit vain? or big headed?

Anyone out there do caricatures? 🙂

Thanks for the comments so far friends, more than happy to get any direction if you feel you can contribute…

never spotted this mate… will have a read over the thread and see if i can share any input when i get the chance.

of the two mice, i prefer the original…

but, and not saying i think there is anything at all up with the logo/image/look etc. but i see you dealing with some real big firms these days and giving allot of good advice over the web and now have trade magazine spots all over the place… with this in mind, maybe ide try a simpler, sharper logo… maybe loose the mouse/slogan entirely?
then again, its worked for you all these years and i have no doubt it is one of the reasons folk like what you write as you are talking on the same level as the reader.?

anyway, hope ive not just typed what someone else has earlier in this thread, yet to read it!

It’s all good, Ruairi, you have a pretty name so you are OK in my book.
And I think Neil must have a picture of me printed on his pillow since he knows my face so well! It probably has my name written in Brush Script and my phone number with TEL: in front of it.
    😉

Shane is you are looking for a good caricature John Deaton could probably do a great job.

But I think a caricature can sometimes give your business a more casual feel and might limit the big-money clients because they may not take you seriously. Just my opinion. Which I suppose I need to learn to keep my mouth shut, or perhaps cut off my fingers so I can only type with my nose.

Hey Jill, I not only value your friendship immensely, and the friendship of everyone else here, but any advice, positive or negative, is always worth having. You make some good points, and you said almost word for word the same as my wife, with regards to the feel that a drawing can induce.

I’m not really comfortable with my photo or likeness as part of a logo anyway, but I’m always interested in the views of my peers. When I publish my articles online, the editors always insist on using my photo. Never really been comfortable with that. When I go to industry shows etc, everyone knows me but I don’t have a clue who they are. Its very embarrassing in truth.

End of the day whatever I do is my decision, but its always good to get opinions from others just to keep informed on views and opinions. No better critic than our peers in this game.

    Cheers

How did you guess Jill, your name is not in Brush Script though it’s Comic Sans 😀
