Just got back from my daughters year 7 Graduation. My daughter was nominated to give the opening speech of the night, thanking the teachers and school for their 7 years of training and education. She did a great job in front of a few hundred people.

Got a pleasant surprise tonight at the award ceremony too. My wife and I were hoping my daughter would get the Music award as she was school music captain all year and had been getting commendation awards all year too, but she got passed up, Then we thought she may get the Citizenship award like her brother got in 2007, because she has a good reputation for helping anyone who needs help, without being asked, the same as my son.

When she didn’t win those award I thought she must have been pipped at the post. I was a bit disappointed for her to be truthful.

The last award of the night was for Tiffani though. DUX of her school for 2009.

We knew she was a clever kid, but Dux was something that other kids got…

Interestingly, the DUX last year was her Violin partner in 08

One proud mum and dad though. As proud of our son for his perpetual award in 07 I might add 🙂

sorry for the poor pics but I was at the back of a very big room with a tele lens and no tripod 👿 Just wanted to share with my uskb friends…

I must be the dunce as I had to Google DUX——– "In schools in Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Iceland, Dux is a modern title given to the top student in academic and sporting achievement "

Don’t remember annual awards at my school in Aberdeen……. 😮 [/i]

Tiffani asked me to pass on her sincerest thanks. She is well chuffed that so may people she doesn’t know took the time to congratulate her. She didn’t realise UKSB’s had such a lovely community spirit.

Sorry about the confusion to the meaning of DUX 😳

Neil, she gets her intelligence from her mum (won a scholarship with a bank in year 12) and also my sister who was an ‘A’ student all her life, who now administers a company that turns over $5mil per month.

It does explain why I had a hard time helping her with her homework though. My standard answer became ‘I haven’t got a clue, you better ask your mother’ 😳

Tiffani has been nominated for a university scholarship at High School next year too, so we’ll see how that goes. Even if it just covers her text books, that will save us a fortune.

    Thanks again friends…

    Thanks fellas.

We got notified that Tiffani is in the top 9% of Maths Students in her age in Queensland.

Might get her to do my accounts I think.

Definitely takes after her mum 😳 😉

    Cheers all
