I’m sure there is a polish chap on these boards who competed and won!

Michael Szwacki is a uksignboards.com member and he was the first person in the UK to become a UK Sign Group – AVWT.

Since then Mike has went onto gaining the following awards:

UKSG – Accredited Vinyl & Wrap Technician
    3M – Authorised Vehicle Wrapper
Arlon – Wrap it Right Certified
    Avery – Specialist Installer

Mike already held second place in Europe from previous contests, but only 2 days ago he was Crowned Best Wrapper in Europe by gaining a 1st place in the recent Europeon Championships. :claps:

Mike also won either 2nd or 3rd place in the World Wrapping Championships last year. :claps:

Unlike most wrappers within our industry Globally, Mike has remained independent and continues to grow his reputation through hard work and persistence to improve himself by picking up awards and accreditation, he is also a genuinely nice guy too. :smiles:

Mike also just began to sell wrapping tools too which we will feature occasionally here on the boards. Further details on services etc can be found in the suppliers index section of Signapp under Sign & Vinyl Installations.

Of course obtaining an award as being the best at anything is an amazing achievement in itself, but I personally would say concentrate on being accredited by as many accreditation sources as possible. You will need to work with a wide array of materials being subbed by this company and that company. without accreditation on certain media, the credibility of you subbing yourself, may mean nothing to your customer because if there is a fail. The media companies will not even look at their case seriously as 9/10 will simply blame you for the fail, and that is just fact. You indirectly void your customers warranty by not having the papers for the media in question.

    Rob,

Cheers for that  just so you are aware I am not competing to get the title behind me. I am purely doing it for the experience and chance to meet people and network. I am going into it open minded and hoping to put up a good fight and see where it goes. Its a nice excuse to get away for a week as well haha!

In terms of getting accredited I am one step ahead of you. I am currently working on 2 different accreditations and hoping by the middle of next year to have both

Still looking forward to the competition
