    HP Designjet L25500 Printer
We had this printer installed in 2011 by William Smith, we purchased it with a 3 year extended Art System’s warranty package which is just expiring now, this can be renewed for around £2600 (msg me for info). We been using this machine on a daily basis, it prints around 2-3 jobs a day on mainly white vinyl, this machine will print banner but when have other machines that do this. Over the years we had very few breakdowns, the cover provided by Art Systems (HP Distributor) have a very good customer support package with a good next day nationwide engineer support, they have been fantastic in keeping the machine in good working order.

One main benefit of the HP Latex is the print-heads and cleaning cartridge, with other printers you normally have to get an engineer out to service the machine when you have major quality issues but with the Latex you can replace major parts for very little money, this was one of the major factors when we purchased it as we won’t faced with a major bill suddenly. One thing we have noticed that over the last three years our printer has only filled up one waste bucket, some other printers will waste of lot of ink on cleaning cycles, this one doesn’t do bad at all and recently replaced the cleaning bucket (better for transporting to a new owner).

The print heads are all working fine (see the maintenance screenshot), I would say 98-99% clear and fairly new print heads installed, one of the interesting things about the Latex is it prints with multiple passes and if a nozzle is not working, you cannot see it affecting the prints, some other printers cause horizontal lining patterns as a nozzle fails but on the latex, you will very rarely see this happen.

This printer was assessed by an engineer about a month ago, we had about 3-4 engineers out for various issues over the last 3 years which is very good for this type of printer, you will find that this printer will work well and it would be suggested to take up a maintenance contract (message me for more info) but you will find that the printer will look after itself.

In one of the photos you see that the machine is connected to two lots of round-pin single phase electric, the printer is connected to my network router and then goes to our main RIP computer where we use a program called Onyx PosterShop 10.1. The printer could run under the RIP that you already use and familiar with (if your already have a setup), one of the benefits of using Onyx is there is a vast library of material profiles already created by manufacturers, this listing is currently offering the RIP but please contact us if you think that you don’t want the RIP.

There would be a small transition period as we are using this machine on a daily basis.

    In 2011

Delivering unrivaled versatility for a variety of outdoor and indoor large-format applications and ease of use, the HP Designjet L25500 Printer featuring HP Latex Printing Technologies offers print service providers (PSPs) durability comparable to using eco-solvent inks, while reducing the impact of printing on the environment, the HP Designjet L25500 Printer is an ideal solution for small and medium digital print and sign shops, as well as copy shops and photo labs interested in offering an enhanced range of applications and increasing their competitive advantage.
    Key features and benefits

    Application versatility

    • The unrivaled versatility of the HP Designjet L25500 Printer enables customers to generate high-impact campaigns that span indoor and outdoor applications – from point-of-purchase (POP) displays to bus shelters to vehicle wraps.

    • The HP Designjet L25500 Printer enables printing on a wide range of media, including coated media or polyester fabric and low-cost papers without treatments.

    • Outdoor signage produced with HP Latex Inks on the HP Designjet L25500 Printer provides the durability of eco-solvent inks with display permanence up to three years unlaminated and up to five years laminated, as well as scratch, smudge and water resistance (on water-resistant media) comparable to eco-solvent inks on a range of media.

    • Produces indoor signage, such as exhibition graphics and interior decorations like wall murals, that stand up to close inspection using HP Thermal Inkjet printheads to produce high-resolution, 1,200 dpi prints on a variety of different substrates including polyester fabric and low-cost papers.

    • HP Latex Inks achieve the optimum in high-quality, consistent performance and application versatility on Original HP large-format printing materials. HP offers a portfolio of 19 large-format media for HP Latex Inks, including seven recyclable substrates, outdoor and indoor substrates, low-cost, uncoated media, and a selection of banner, self-adhesive, fabric, paper, mesh and specialty options.
    Ease of use

    • Water-based HP Latex Inks and HP 789 Designjet Printheads enable automatic maintenance and unattended printing with no daily, manual printhead maintenance required(5) and no special printhead cleaning required when the printer has been properly turned off overnight, over weekends or over longer periods of time. Individual HP 789 Designjet Printheads are user-replaceable, eliminating the downtime and expense of a service call.

    • The HP Designjet L25500 Printer uses an embedded spectrophotometer to easily achieve accurate and consistent color across prints and between printers; the Optical Media Advance Sensor (OMAS) accurately controls the media as it advances through the printer to minimize banding at high print speeds.

    • Water-based HP Latex Inks are completely cured inside the HP Designjet L25500 Printer to form a durable film on the print medium. Prints come out of the printer ready to laminate, use, finish and prepare for shipment or display, enabling high productivity.

    • Intelligent technology built into Original HP printing supplies and the HP Designjet L25500 Printer enables features that save time and minimize interruptions, including continuous adjustments, which optimize print quality and reliability and maximize printhead life, and alerts that provide notification when supplies need to be replaced.

    • Printer status can be monitored through the embedded web server, and because HP partners with the most popular raster image processing (RIP) vendors, the embedded web server can be easily accessed through common RIP solutions.

    • HP Double Swath technology staggers printheads in the carriage to double the print swath of the HP Designjet L25500 Printer, resulting in twice the performance of earlier HP Designjet models. The print swaths overlap each other so that nozzles print in the same scan line, eliminating swath-to-swath banding.
Reduce the impact of printing on the environment

    • HP Latex Inks produce odorless prints that allow placement in POP environments where odor is a concern, enabling a competitive advantage versus printshops that use eco-solvent technology.

    • The HP Designjet L25500 Printer features the ENERGY STAR® rating, which demonstrates compliance with strict energy-efficiency guidelines.

    • Water-based HP Latex Inks are non-flammable and non-combustible, do not require hazard warning labels, and contain no hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Additionally no special ventilation equipment or external dryer is required.

    • Prints produced with HP Latex Inks on HP recyclable media can be returned through the HP Large-format Media take-back program, now available in the United States and Europe. As part of the HP Planet Partners program, this free program makes it easy to return and recycle prints produced with HP Latex Inks on HP recyclable media as well as Original HP 789 Latex Designjet Ink Cartridges and Printheads.

    • The HP Designjet L25500 solution helps PSPs distinguish their businesses and attract new environmentally focused customers by offering a complete solution – including water-based HP Latex Inks and HP recyclable media – that helps reduce the impact of printing on the environment.
