  • HP L25500 – Possible substrate jam

    Hello folks,

We have just moved offices, since the move (2 days), our HP L25500 had decided to offer the 86:01 error. There is no substrate jam, the carriage twitches a couple of mill, but doesn’t move. I have oiled the runner for the carriage (just incase), I have checked for any jam, I have fed substrate through, I have checked the encoder strip for obvious signs of damage…. nothing.

Any suggestions? I could really do without the bill after investing in more equipment and moving.

    Regards

    Nigel

Have you tried cleaning your encoder stripe?

Lint free cloth with a little water lightly clean the encoder strip don’t go crazy and start scrubbing, gently wipe from left to right.

We had this error on the L26500 and it solved the issue.

I don’t know the HP latex too well but I believe the substrate sensor is nothing more complex than an optical sensor and reflector. From memory, the reflector is on the left side of the head assembly. Give it a clean and see how it goes.
