Hi guys, i have a small sign company and on a tight budget am looking into purchasing large format printer.
Ive done fair amount of research and understand that most people use solvent printers due to life expectancy of inks, however as i said budget is an issue.
The hp designjet range seems to do everything, i know that i would have to use uv inks instead of dye inks and everything would be laminated but my real question is would this good enough for van logos etc as my quality of work is important. Would they last say 5 – 8 years without fading?

Simple answer no, if your reputation is important to you then do what I do and find a good trade printer to do all your external printing until you have built it up to a point where you would be better off doing it in house.

OK so you aren’t going to make as much profit but at least it will be done right, if it were as easy as buying something like the machine you have menioned then everyone would be running them and no one would be investing money in solvent machines.

still don’t know why HP call them UV inks…. they are not

the small print on the durability of the ink is always interesting to read with a HP.

There is solvent deals to be had, plenty around

    Always consider trade routes too
