I have just acquired (for a tenner!) one of these printers – funny story, which I’ll save for another time! – which came with no software.
I don’t know if it works, although it certainly seems to be making the right noises when switched on.

I seem unable to download any functioning software for it. Looking on the net, it seems that I may have problems getting the downloads, and wondered if anyone is using one of these and could point me in the right direction?

Also, as there is a total lack of info, can anyone tell me what it prints on to? Is it only paper, or other media too?

Sorry for all the silly questions, typical really that something like this happens when you have the least time to deal with it! 😕

    Hi Chris

    Speedy reply!

Confusing thing is, this has 4-colour cartridges, and a cutter, but I can only find references to monochrome on the net, as you have!

    Anyone any ideas?

Hi Chris, thanks for your research and replies, that last site looks good, I have been busy so unable to contact them, but will try tomorrow.
    Do you have a Designjet?
I know it prints onto paper, but don’t understand ‘coated’ paper or image film-think that’s what it’s called? Wondered what anyone else uses theirs for?

no i dont have one thank you but use similar before.

standard plotting paper used for plotting line drawings
coated paper DYE based for quality printing. some times called photo paper.
film for screen printing art work may not be dense enough thou.
there is a SA vinyl called micro porous matt finish only. dont get your hope up.

those inks are Dye based and will fade quickly and are not water proof but at 600 dpi on to a good paper will make good indoor stuff.
when buying coated paper it must be either universal or for dye inks. not for pigmented inks,

Thank you Chris for explaining all that, a bit clearer now. I’ll have to put getting it up & running on the back burner for a while now, getting behind with the sign making!
