I was going to post along the lines of using Illustrator or CorelDraw to compare CMYK to a Pantone swatch, or the Pantone Process to Color Selector book to at least come up with a starting point…but then I saw this, linked by Robert in the Links forum http://www.easyrgb.com/reference.php

I don’t need it tonight, but I could see that coming in VERY handy in the future.

    Hi Mark
Seems like you’ve asked a question without an answer!
Are you wanting to take a vinyl colour and match that colour with CMYK values for printing? – if so – what printer ?
    Regards … Big D …

    Dave
A customer of our gave us cmyk colour ref to work from….

sorry for my question being a bit short….but so was my teather at the time….
I wanted to test print a cmyk rectangle (std inkjet) and try to match with vinyl to avoid an edge or roland job…
    8no 3mm stripes at 1m in length….
but who can say that our printer is set right to our clients…

seeing as there are 16.4m colours (at the last count) surely all vinyls match cmyk (to some point)…

Anyway sorted the problem…matched it the best I could…I just did it in normal vinyl… and they never said a word…. a design house 😮 … paid up 😀 😀

3mm STRIPES. specific colour or else, what does your customer have an inspector Clusoe magnifier. Sounds like a customer to be well left alone.

Dave is right CYMK is a collection of four colours to match another (or photos etc). There is no way you get CYMK vinyl bescause the possibilities are to vast.
    A CYMK colour match in a swatch, to match a colour, may go something like this C 60% Y25% M 10% K 4%
Nah not likely 😕 its not a colour range like PMS

Always talk your customer to your way of thinking and only offer what colours are available, especially on such a small job.

    Cheers
