  • How to turn off the heaters instantly on Mimaki CJV30-60

Posted by Kyle W on December 16, 2012 at 1:51 pm

I am wishing to use only the cutting feature on the Mimaki without the heaters as these soften the media and then the cutter seems to "skip" and the cut lines are’t great.
Cut lines are much better when the media is cold.
Question is how do I turn off the heaters instantly for when I just want to use the cut mode?
My current method is simply turn off the machine until it cools, start it up again and as soon as it’s on try the cutting before the media softens too much!
I’m using a thinner material so the heaters really can affect it.
The mimaki cuts fine on thicker print media.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kyle

    Hi Karl.

The only way I can think of doing it would be to set the heaters to off in the setup, so that when it’s first switch on, the heaters don’t come on, then let the RIP switch the heaters on when you send a print to it.

    Cheers,
    That’s a good idea.
    I’ll do that 🙂

    2 ways to do:

    – in Rasterlink you have a tick box in the cut setting tab to force heater off after print, this way you don’t need to do anything during a print and cut sequence. In this tab, also add some delay so that the heater and vinyl can cool down.

    – by hand: on the printer, press 2 times on the heater button then OK (the printer ask you if you want to set the heater off). If you press this button only once, the printer ask if you want to park the cutt head.
