    Hello all

Just a quick one for ye all, have not been able to find a uniform technician in Ireland to explain how to Print – Laminate – Plot on versaworks on my cadet plus. Then the helpful people at B & P never called me back, though im sure there is a valid explanation.

Hoping there is someone out there that can help?

I get the same problems with PrintMax. They promise to phone me back same day, even though i tell them they have said that before, they then promise me they will but never do.
Don’t think they want any business. If I did that to my customers I would soon be out of business.

Check out chapter four of the maual Garry. If you don’t have a manual you’ll find it on one of the disks.

did the guy installing your machine not show/explain how this was done?

This is going to be a very rough rough explanation, we had our versacamm (running versaworks) installed on monday so I know very little, i hope it helps.
You have to specify in the settings of the job you are running that you want to print registration marks and print only. Once the job is printed remove laminate (after an hour to let the inks dry) reload into machine making sure that the front registration marks are in line with print head travel (the mark with the printed oblong always front right) you need to perform whatever operation is required with the cadet to sense reg marks (in the manual) go into print setting of job you printed and set to cut only , send to printer.
very rough explanation i know doing this from memory

    1) with print cut job in versa setup the job as usual profile size etc.
2)from the MARK tab on job settings enable the CROP MARK box.
3)under the Cut CONTROL tab select PRINT ONLY.
    4)print the job.

sometimes it is worth enabling the CENTRE ON MEDIA function for laminating jobs to aid in aligning on the laminator.

5)after lamination reload material into versacamm (rectangle to rhs). a good tip is to have used the sheet offf knife on the first edge to aid in getting it straight in the machine. i usually allign this to a straight line on the machine heater.

6)the printer will allow for around 5 degrees of slant on the media so it has to be something like.

7)after loading sheet select edge and printer will find front of the media.

8)move cutting carriage with curser keys so that the cutting blade is in line with the first cropmark circle then set this as basepoint. . the machine will look for cropmarks but if you set the basepoint either on or in line with them it cuts down on time searching.

9)printer should find all 4 marks, if not reload and try again.

    10) from versaworks select the same job and go into its settings.
    11) change cutting option in CUT CONTROLS tab to CUT ONLY
    12) another good tip is to ENABLE ADVANCED SETTINGS in the CUT CONTROL tab and make it so that CUT PASSES is set to 2. PRESSURE will be dependent on the condition of your blade but i usually find that 50g is sufficient. this is asking the machine to do 2 cut passes at 50g therefore 1 for the laminate film surface and 1 for the vinyl.

    13) ok the settings and then PRINT the job again. versaworks will ask if you wish to re rip the file, select NO.

    14) job should cut.

    hope this helps

Hi, I haven’t seen Uniform or B&P people posting in recent weeks… perhaps they could answer? Hope you you get it learnt, I know some of these installs can end up with limited training.

Also, on a reminder note, we all have followed “board rules” and was asked to change from ‘company names’ to ‘Personal names’, could you please email admin@uksignboards.com and change it, it makes it fair on the rest of us who are not allowed to advertise our companies on here.

Thanks for all the help, will give it a go in a little while, i only got my manual this morning as it did not come with the machine, so i think i should be able to manage it with what you guys have given. Think the B&P guys are moving at the moment, so understandable they are busy.

I suppose its back to what they say bout how many aircraft technicians can fly a plane…..

Laminate after only one hour ?

Surely it needs longer than that. Would be interested in knowing how long others leave their prints…

Always try and leave print for 8 hours to properly cure out, with wrapping vinyl 24 hours as the solvent is so aggressive and softens the vinyl alot.

Probably does need more than one hour as i said only had the machine a couple of days, this is all uncharted territory!

Apologies for not being to help out more with this problem.

VersaWorks is not a software we supply or support (to the point that we would probably be more of a hindrance than a help), as we always replace it with TROOP on our installs.

However, we did contact your supplying dealer on your behalf, hopefully this will have led to them calling you.

Let me know if you need anything further and we will do what we can.

I would also like to apologise to any of you that have had difficulties or delays in getting Tech Support over the last few days. As was mentioned previously by Garry, we are in the process of moving our Uniform machine building and engineering resources to Manchester in order to provide a more centralised support resource that should ultimately lead to faster response times for our customers North of Watford!! Obviously this is a major drain on our available resources during the transfer, so as I say, apologies and thanks for your patience.

Mark Jones hit the nail on the head with it, got it first go. Happy out now. I’m assuming Kevin that it is the same process on the grenadier?

I can only assume so Garry, as the principal is similar on both printers. As I say I have zero experience of the VersaWorks RIP as we never include it with our installs.

Glad that Marks response got you back on track.

I really should dig out a copy of VersaWorks and try it out. Too many things to do, not enough hours in the day 😕

Kevin i have the same problem about hours in the day, i’m thinking maybe we could try and petition mother nature to round it off to 30hrs per day. Any opinions?
