How to give a radius to the corners of a triangle..

Only 2 ways I can think of in Corel.

1st, create a square, put a circle in it, use trim to cut the circle out of the box and then trim part of the box away, you need to work out the angles.
You then use align to set this over the triangle and using trim remove the radius.
Advantages. gives you a controlled radius but it’s a lot of work.

2nd. add an outline and in the outline properties edit, set endpoint to radius, quick easy but no control over radius that I know of.

if you need to do it in Illustrator, draw a triangle with the polygon tool, expand the stroke pallete, click on the ’round join’ button (next to ‘mitre limit’ box). Then you can increase the stroke value to what you are after.

once you have the triangle as required, go to ‘paths’ (found under ‘object’), and outline stroke. You will then have an inner triangle that you would probaby want to get rid of by using the direct selection tool.

tested it and seems to work fine.

Corel X3 has a Fillet/Chamfer/Scallop docker that does this , its very useful , especially for vinyl cutting where you often need to round corners of sharp objects
Corel X3 is a VERY worthwhile upgrade
Lots of fantastic features that makes life easy for engravers, signage etc

I have to agree with Rodney – also look at http://www.signcut.net useful stuff there for those who want to cut directly from Draw X3, I’ve just bought the Signit X2 version for additional features but the full one is for cutting.

its easy, all you do is, draw your triangle. put a thick stroke on it, as thick as you like. select round cap or or round join. select you object then click on OBJECT on the menu bar, click on PATH and then select OUTLINE STROCK. Job done…….
