  • How to fit a tray sign directly above a roller shutter box

Good morning everyone. We are fitting a tray sign directly above a roller shutter box TODAY lol. The (unforeseen) problem is, i didnt think about fixing access to the bottom section of the tray sign as the tray sign sits directly on top of the roller shutter.

Does anyone have any suggestions of an alternative way of fixing it to the wall?

The obvious answer is the sides….if you can access them?

Yeh, top & sides – leave the bottom if it’s not massive.

OR – if you absolutely cannot see the bottom edge from the road or normal viewing position…colour coded capped screws through the face at lowest position possible (wood batten behind fixed to wall). The purists will inevitably tear me a new one – but sometimes you have to compromise to get the job done and make a buck.

Yes well we were going to fix top, bottom and sides. The supplier that we got the tray sign from said that fixing it from the top and sides should be sufficient but…. it can get a little windy where its going. We might double side tape the bottom of the tray sign to the top of the shutter box, you would never know as the sign is sitting on there anyway. It is a composite so there not that much weight in it i suppose

If the tray is sitting on the shutter box, just run a line of clear silicon along the length, that way if the shutter box needs to be removed they can just run a blade along the silicon to allow the box to be removed. It will stop the tray from blowing out if the wind gets behind the tray

Rivet the fixing angle to the bottom return so the angle is facing out this allows you to screw the tray on with out the shutter bos interfering and due to it being so close to the sutter you will not see the angle.
