  • How to Bond Stainless Steel Built Up Letters Onto Glass

Posted by Glenn Sharp on October 19, 2009 at 10:43 am

We have a job to do where there is no fascia board. The customer is on a row of shops where others have built up lettering bonded directly to the tops of their windows. The only thing is the customer is 200 miles away so it’s not just a case of nipping round to see how it’s been done.

Each letter will be approximately 220m high with 25mm returns………the backs of the letters will be visible from inside the shop so whatever we use needs to look neat and tidy.

Are there any tapes out there that we can use or should be be looking at some other way………..any help or ideas gratefully received

    Hi Glenn,
what we have done previously is cut silver vinyl for the inside of the glass to hide the tape from the inside, and on the outside of the glass used 3m VHB tape, which is excellent for this sort of thing and very strong! Hope this helps, we have used dual lock velcro but found this only lasted a couple of years.

    regards

get whoever does your letters to put a flat plate on the back, and use VHB, use a vinyl to hide the back if they can be seen,

    example on the attached link
