Not exactly sure but it is in excess of 10,000. Believe it or not.

Check out BSGA website, but I think they say about 22,000 sign makers in the UK.

yeh ide say 22 thousand is closer to being right we did some sort of search 10 years back and got roughly 16 thosand. so ide expect 22thousand to be closer, maybe more these days seeing that so many budget machines are coming on the market 🙄

I think they are all round our way judging by how quiet the phones have been lately 😮 :lol1:

    Interesting you say that Mike

Phones have been a bit mute here as well

Not got to the worrying stage yet but has anyone else been quiet lately?

I’ve been pretty quiet the last month, but it seems to be picking up this last week. If there are 22,000 sign companies about, we must go against the National trend. There is only one serious sign business where I live.

September was quiet on the phones for us ….. we were kept busy with the outstanding orders we had and with the move to new premises, but I must admit if we get more than three or four quiet days with not too many enquiries I start to stress 😮 But as usual I stress for nothing because October was hectic and Im certainly not complaining, just hope it stays busy over the Xmas period and into the New Year ……… its nearly 2005 …… OMG!!!! This year really has flown by.

Thats just it! The Christmas period can be just as quiet

Wonder if its just the sign game or whether others are experiencing the same

There’s no hint of a recession (shouldn’t have said that should I)

Its not that bad really, just a little quieter than the norm.

Normally pulling my hair out *hair* Now I can listen to Jazz FM (-music) and sup coffee

not just us guys, i am hearing the larger firms going bust left right and centre, we are not slow just now, we are pretty busy to be honest. but thats based on our larger repeat customers. these are the ones that need stuff all year round, so any time the day to day stuff slows up, they keep coming keeping our head above water.
if you have any big customers or customers that use lots of signs, make sure you “walk in” to his office with a card for his family and a bottle of whiskey for him. makes all the difference to the pile of calenders piled on his desk. and dont just drop it in for him.. gauranteed he gets the card and not the drink 😉 :lol1:

    John…

Sorry if this depresses you, but I think that the first green shoots of depression are visible.

I spoke to Roger at Sign Update today & his database is around 7000. And it has shopfitters, Engravers etc. on it. So I think 22,000 signmakers is unlikely?

Hope you all busy up soon, else there will be no need for the likes of me 😥

signlink say they have 13 thousand mailing list. i know this is not all sign makers etc but… i dont know many friends i have that dont get any sign mags.. i also know of loads on this site that doesnt get sign mags aswell as many many that dont even want or have an interest in them… persoanly i blame the content of them on this but you know what i am getting at.
i know of about 7 signmakers/digital printers in a 5 mile radious of me.
i bet only 2 at a push get sign mags. now thats just between two small scottish towns.. now take that scenario in birmingham were the population of birmingham is supposedly bigger than scotland? 🙄
