  • How long do printed banners last?

    AS per the title 🙂

I’ve had an enquiry about printed banners for use in one of those frames with the elastic fixings all the way round, to last for a few years.
I get the impression that she likes the style and also it would be easy to change for a different one.
As I understand it printed banners, or any banner for that matter, are only a temporary solution. Am I correct?
Also what sort of price range would a printed banner of 8ft X 4ft be as if they were cheap enough then they would change it once a year or so.

    Thanks
    Steve

Depends on the print methodology and mechanical abraision (how it flaps in the wind), environment, UV , pollutants , acid rain etc.
1 year guarantee is all I would venture and that would at least have to include some sort of liquid lam. If you use a cold pressure lam over it , you can go 2-3 years provided the material you use to print on is rated to that and grommets arent pulled out etc.

    £200ish for the banner

Should last 18 months easy, might fade a bit after that but but by then they’d probably want another one anyway. £200 for the frame (Boldscan are good)

Tell them it’s massively cheaper than a one week local paper advert.

I was thinking in the region of 1 year, after that the damage from the weather would be making it look tatty anyway, the other option that I suggested was to have a proper sign base and board etc that had some sliders or something to allow her to slide in foamex sheets with printed vinyl on. that way they will be able to change them and also the foamex will be supported.
I can think of a few down sides to that though 🙁

My fav would be to have a printed vinyl sign on a good base and they remove the base from the framework and fit another if needed, all the bases and frameworks being the same (but I’m good at coming up with complicated solutions).
I think that she may be thinking of being able to move the signs around to the different locations as this is in a wildlife park so maybe as they move the animals around the signs can move with them.
