How is this sign made? Any ideas?
Posted by Gwaredd Steele on November 17, 2010 at 11:01 amMorning all.
My customer wants me to replicate the item shown below from this terrible picture. I’ve explained to her that it looks like a moulded/pressed gold foil material & have no idea how to replicate it.
Anyone come across this stuff or a company that makes it before?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
G.

Trouble is, she wants it with the same intricate pattern 😮
I thought it looked like some pre-moulded sheet, much like the sticky backed chequer plate plastic sheets you can get in the likes of The Range etc.
Ah well, worth an ask. Cheers fellas.

give her your answer in two words…. second one is "OFF" 😉
Best of luck. 😀

It’s usually 100% the designers choice to be fair. They just source it & fit.

You can buy these from those crappy tat shops that sell home furnishings/gifts etc, not seen a gold one though 🙄
Not that I go in that sort of shop much

I have to agree with Robert, there really is no other way to deal with that one.
Other suggestion is, throw that one away and buy a pair of similarly nasty frames that match, who’d be any the wiser.
Another thing to consider is, how much do they expect to pay for it if you spend ages locating it or indeed getting it made??? And when people say, "I don’t care what it costs, I must have it" they’re very unlikely to actually mean it unless they own an oil refinary…
