We have a camm1 at work, it’s 30″ though (I think). It’s been a work horse for us. I’ve been working there for almost 2 years and it has never been out of commission.

my honest opinion is that the roland cutters are good ones. i have bought many ofer the years. personally i think the workhorses we hear about today are the older models. like most machines/manufacturers these days metal parts are replaced with plastic, plastic parts are replaced with cheaper, thinner plastic. my view is that this is to compete with the market, but knowing fine well parts arent what they used to be, they will make money back and more on parts. parts that are over priced that is. we dont seem to think about that bit 😉
rolan in my eyes are always moving forward, the downside of their product in the “uk” (just my opinion) is that after sales is poor. too much like it or lump it attitude im afraid. i also think they need to do a litle more research beofre assigning their independant reps to service/maintain their machines.

Exactly the same here Rob. Not only the independent reps mate, also the management here. Could do with a quick swift kick up the backside I think.

Just to further emphasize how good they are I have had two camm1’s in use at the college where i teach signmaking, they have been in constant use for the last 7 years and survived about 75 inexperienced students, the only parts that have been replaced are the neoprene strips (£5) on the bed plus the usual servicing. You will not be dissapointed, however that is not to say that there are some other makes out there that would have taken the same abuse.

I’ve had my camm1 for 10 years and it’s still going strong and it’s constantly working. Only replacement part is the cutting strip (and blades of course). It also withstands sawdust and overspray quite well.
