We all see on here the amount of hard work & long hours that goes into coming up with the "right" image for our vans but how much work do you actually get from them.

I work for a company that has a fleet of 16 vans out on the road daily…..whenever I tell anybody where I work, they all say, "I see your vans all over the place"…..so as an image it is obviously working but what struck me is that we very rarely get asked to quote for work directly through the drivers. Fortunately because of the kind of sign work we are in, it is not important.

I was just interested to know whether all the hard work & angst actually paid off for you guys in terms of business directly from seeing your vans

    Hi Glenn

Well I hope so 😮 After all it is what we tell our customers when they are thinking about getting their vans signed up.

    Is it all a big lie 😮 😮 😮

I only have a car that is (was) signed and I did get a few calls from people saying they saw my car parked somewhere or have been asked for a card when somebody sees me, even once while parked at a red light I was asked and quickly haded one through the window.

So I would say yes, but only as good as it is noticed and remembered 😉

    cheers

    Warren

I would think that people would see the contact inf on the van and just use that rather than asking to driver?

    Nick.

just last week had a guy pull over to where I was parked, said he saw my van, asked for a business card, had a meeting next day, this week Im looking at doing 4 large vans and 20 site boards….got to be worth it.
oh and Ive had offers of marriage on the M25…cos my numbers on the van…..all by married men 🙄 🙄 🙄

I routinely get asked for a business card when out and about in my van. My best ever result was about 7 years ago – I was parked up in a street unloading to do a job – I was asked to quote work for 3 different business all in the space of about half an hour all of which cam to fruition – so it definitely does work.

Never had any offer of marriage though 😕

lol Cheryl! I’ve had similar call from when i used to leave my signed up car on the main road, sometimes i’d not bother to bring it back down here so it would sit there all weekend til i needed it. occasionally, on a fri or sat night, i would get a call from a bunch of (i assume) drunk girls giggling in the background, and one would ask me if i remember her from a recent good time behind the pub, and why i didn’t call back, she’d get fairly graphic at times, i think it was usually a childish attempt to try and get me in trouble with the mrs! my mrs thought it quite amusing. it usually ended when i said tha i thought she was good, but her mum was better!, her mates would usually fall about laughing and she’d hang up.

hmm, i digress. my car isn’t currently signed properly, it just has a contravision sample on the rear window, little in the way of proper signage. and i get nothing from it. but when i had my last two cars signed right up, i’d get regular calls from people who’d seen it in town or something.

another firm i worked for, had 5-6 vans, all signed, it certainly works well for them, we had to carry a box of cards in the van for potential customers, i reckon i used at least one card a week, multiply that by 6 vans….. they also did local radio advertising too. there was rarely someone who didn’t know who i worked for, they either knew the vans or the radio jingle.

    so yup… it works!
