  • How do you cut layers where images overlap ?

    Hi all,

I’ve been given a logo for print and cut using my Gerber. It has three layers to it two of which could be cut without affecting each other. However the third part of the image ( a tick which goes over both of the others ) does create a problem as it interferes with cut lines.

Is there a way to cut so that the tick doesn’t ‘cut into’ the others or do I cut that separately and apply later ? The awkward thing about that is that the tick is placed behind one of the others. ( Thing of a square with a tick going thru it and a circle outline placed on top of the tick ) – I need the inner sections cut too so can’t just draw an outer line to it all as such.

I am using Omega software to do this.

    Many thanks,
    Saph

can you not align it by eye or reg marks. It would also help if you could post a image of the logo.

dont know gerber but i would try
copying the cutpaths to a 4th layer and weld them use that as the cut.
dont like layers and would tackle differently in corel.

    Thanks a lot guys.

I think I am going to just have to cut them individually and then layer myself, as reluctant as I am to do this, would much rather have had a single unit.

Totally with you on the hating layers Chris !

I cant see why you would need to cut and then layer, can you post a pic or the file, I am sure there is an easy way to do it

Like Peter I can’t see where the problem is and a picture would be good to solve it if there is one…

A cut line usually just follows the outline of all objects so it seems you need to weld all the three outlines together, either across layers or bring them into same layer.. if third tick object does not have outline then make one and weld to other two…
