  • How do I turn off colour correction?

Posted by Earl Smith on November 8, 2010 at 11:33 am

I have recently changed my subli ink and need to get a new colour profile. I run an Epson Photo 1400 and print direct from Corel X4. I have to print out a test page and send it to the profiler. But before I do this I must turn off all colour correction. Any ideas how to do this?

Tools – Colour management – from cm dialoge box settings (at the top) ‘colour management off’ from the drop down.

X5 is different for those who need to do the same thing though. You don’t turn cm off just simulate X4 and earlers off settings.

    Thanks Alan,
Do you know if I have to do anything with the Epson printer properties before I send to print?

I don’t I’m afraid, when I flirted with dye sub it was with Sawgrass inks and they had their own colour management, it was also with a much earlier version of Draw. I dropped it because I wasn’t getting the volume, the inks cost a national debt and were constantly blocking the Epson printer. I hope the modern inks are less trouble and that the Epson printers are less temperamental.

    Thanks anyways Alan,
As you said, the Sawgrass ink is a crazy price and thats the reason I am trying Lyson ink. The printers havent changed, they still block but I am lucky. I have a tame printer technician as a friend/customer and he drops in and unblocks it every now and again. I am probably going to have to buy the new Ricoh A3 printer with gel ink if I cant get a good print from the Epson.

Earl, would you not be better off printing out a test page from the printer preferences rather than through Corel.
Just a thought, not a corel user so don’t know how it works. Just turn off colour management in the printer preferences and hit the print test page button.

I have to print a downloaded test page so the profiler can use this to calculate my new profile. This, I have been told, has to be done from the program I use ,X4. I think I will create a new printer output , with no profile used, in the Epson properties box and see how that works.

When I had one done years ago there was a link on their website on how to turn off all the colour managment.
By the way sublimate it onto something, it shifts the colour slightly so your profile will be wrong if you just use the printed output directly, I did and the colours were never quite right.
