  • how do i tidy-up a rough-looking logo?

    Hi there!

I am making a logo for a customer in vectorized format.
Customer will use as a cardesign.
The logo is round like a stamp.

Now I want to shape it like a "real" stamp so it looks a bit scratched.
This is easy in photoshop but I cannot find a way to do it in illstrator. I have found one way for it in illustrator as shown in the picture below.

Do I have to add filters for this effect in illustrator or use another program?

Sorry, I can’t help you with this one BUT
Before you go further, you might want to adjust
your kerning between the N the Å and the P in KNÅP.

    Ok thanks.

Forgot to say that the picture is just a sketch. 🙂

Do it in photoshop and then trace it in illustrator.

Or does illustrator not have a bitmap trace tool?

if you make it look rough in photoshop and in high contrast black and white, then cut the image, and paste it whilst in quickmask, then, go to selection, right click and select, convert to path, (or something), then you can export into illustrator.

I think i’m going to repeat myself here, but here it goes.
u can take a close look at ALL the answers in this topic:

    https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.p … rt&start=0

or u can use the Paul’s and Ramj’s solutions (very useful for simple problems like yours) or u can try Adobe Streamline (one of the best’s i know) u might be able to find someone that as got the full program or maybe u got a demo yourself if you are using original software from adobe, i think u can find it in the Cd’s that came with your Illustrator or Photoshop in Demos folders.

Of course another aproach would be draw it by hand, you would get much better results than in all the other metods, althought it’s muuuuch more time consuming.

    Hope this helped!!

    That was very helpful Britch.

Great! I had no idea about these functions in Photoshop. Maybe because I only “selfl earned” how to use Photoshop and Illustrator. That is a hard way sometimes but also very good for practice- You get to see many functions on the way to get the correct one… 😉

Jill is the kerning of a word the leading ,spacing, when I was taught spacing of text it was called leading from the method used by printers who used lead spacers to seperate text .

old topic, but kerning and leading both have to deal with spacing

leading is the spacing between lines (line spacing)
kerning is the amount of space between individual characters

and yes, leading used to be spaced out using metal bands or strips of lead to manage the spacing.
