Anybody found an efficient way of removing large quantities of this vinyl, obviously we have tried all the conventional methods, none with any great success, so any new inspirations most welcome

i had to strip 2 vans warped in arlon 6 months ago, i used lots of heat was lucky not to split the vinyl form the adhesive or the laminate to much so didn’t have too much adhesive left on the vehicle.

am not sure how long the product was on the van before it came to me as someone else had done the job.

p.s. i heard somewhere about someone using a wallpaper steamer for removing vinyl.

did you have any luck getting it off ?

I heat it with a hair dryer (I think a heat gun is too hot)
and use a L’il Chisler tool.
Then I clean up any residue with Rapid Remover.
I know some people like to use a wallpaper steamer but I haven’t tried that yet.
Another guy I know peels off the vinyl and uses masking tape to remove the glue, simply by sticking on tape, burnishing it, and pulling it off.
(he swears by this method with reflective)

the problem is getting the heat under the face stock of the vinyl to release the adhesive so if you use a heat gun don’t heat as you pull it otherwise it will just tear, heat a section then remove it and so on.

Wallpaper steamers are ideal for removing vinyl. There is a nack to using them though, you have to keep the plate moving. As you strip with one hand the other hand must be steaming the next bit to be removed and so on. If you leave the plate in one place to long it tends to leave glue. The other good thing with using a steamer is the vinyl doesn’t tear, it goes very soft.

Or don’t screw the lid off to see how much water is left in it,while it is working (a guy working for me told me that, as he asked for a towel and some burn cream!) 😀
