  • How do I identify cast from calendered vinyl?

Posted by Darren.Bolton on June 7, 2011 at 7:38 pm

I have several rolls of partly used hexis vinyl and am pretty sure they are a mix of cast and calendered. Is there an easy way to find out which is which?

Check to see if there are any codes on the backing paper that may identify the vinyls series.

Other then that, cast is usually thinner and tears more easily then calendered. They have different properties and feel different. If you take a piece of cast vinyl and scrunch it up into a ball it almost melts together, whereas calendered doesn’t.

We buy Hexis. If I`m not mistaken the writing on the back is a different colour, It should tell you in the hexis catalogue whats what.

grey is either s500 suptac hi performance 8 to 10
    or a banner series
    blue 3000 ecotac 5 yr
I think the red is promo…2yr

I would not set it in stone what ive said, thats what ive gotten from my catalog and memory ..I generally tell by feel and texture of Hexis material whats what.
