  • how do i get pc60 to work with corel draw please?

Posted by MISFIT1 on March 2, 2008 at 9:07 am

We have been using another machine and program for a few years now no probs, but have recently purchased a roland pc 60 to do smaller printed stickers. Also have corel draw 12. I can get the roland to cut and to print but not together and it is starting to do my head in. Also is there someone who has a bit of patience to tell me how to do it from corel draw, having not used this program before, and i mean almost from scratch. Always use WinPCSign for our other machine and am a bit loath to move on from this, but I am sure that corel will be better to use with the roland. Any help would be really appreciated. Many thanks!!

just to add misfit its always a good thing on the boards to introduce yourself and tell us a bit about what you do etc etc in the correct forum (say hello)
this way people are more inclined to post replies

    Hi MISFIT1
If I remember right there is detailed instructions in the user manual for using corel and illustrator, it probably won’t be for your version of corel but the steps are probably the same. I downloaded the user manual from an American website but can’t remember what it was called. I will have a look tomorrow and dig the manual out.

    hi nicky
you said in your other post you can cut and you can print but not together.

the rules for the pc 60 are
corel page size must match the driver page then it will print and cut where you put it.
it will print what you see on the screen and it will cut any object with a hairline or a line less than .01mm thick.
in the driver you have the options of.
    print only
    cut only
    print then cut
so a black box with a hairline will print black then cut.
use it in spot colour mode as the number of colours used to print will probably be less and more like you expect.

once you get the basic idea then there are loads of tricks to do

just draw a box then click the pick tool, the box has 8 little squares around it.
now select the pen nib then the nib and a menu will appear.

I had a PC60 years ago used with Corel 7.
Exactly as Chris says, but I had to use "no fill" for the object to be cut, and MAGENTA colour hairline outline.
Don´t know if this would apply in Corel 12.

Right click on a palette colour will put a hairline round an object/s.

Before you start in Corel, with a blank page, select the pen nib tool and select .01mm at the width, this will set all subsequent objects as having this as a default setting (OK providing you are not cutting purely on line thickness!!)
