Another question for using this software with a Cadet printer.

I have learned how to print and cut using this RIP. Also how to print only. Also how to cut re-loaded media (after laminating for instance) using the cut file generated by the RIP and recognising the cutting registration marks made during printing.

What I can’t figure out is how to generate a cutting file in the cutting queue without actually allowing the RIP to do the cutting operation the first time. The only way I can get a cutting file to appear in the cutting queue is to either allow the RIP to print and complete the cut, or to pause then cancel the cutting operation immediatley after the printing cycle (this leaves a cutting file in the the cutting queue for me to use later). I have tried unticking the "Process cutting paths" box in the print setup menu but then no cutting file is produced for me to use.

    Can anyone advise?

I seem to remember that V5 is the Wasatch (spelling) based one same as Colorip.
Your cut path is in the cut menu next to the print menu item.

That’s if it is the same basic rip.

You’re right Steve – the cut path file is in the cut menu. My question is how do you get the cut path file to appear there without performing the full print and cut operation. The cut file only appears in this menu after a RIP and print has been performed (inlcuding the cutting stage of the operation). I want to be able to do the print only – remove the vinyl and laminate – then perform the cut.

    Hi Phill,

The way I do my prints are:

Send data to print only, with regisration (opas) marks
    Let it cure, then laminate.

Feed the lammed image back into machine and use the AUTO ALIGN function which scans for the opas reg marks.

go back to Troop and open file but select Contour only.

    thats it.

I have a drop down menu in the Troop software that lets me select

    (Print Only)
    or
    (Contour Only)
    or
    (Print & Contour)

I think its the second tab you select to get it.

Dunno if its the same in V5.

    Thanks Andrew.

I’ll need to look and see if I have the same set of menu options

    Hi Phill

On my 7th bottle now but here goes.

In colorip I have modules setup, 2 for print and cut. fast and quality say , also No. 3 is cut only, No. 4 I have setup as print with the cutpath processed but the cutter is not enabled, machine printed registration marks and auto align.

You send the job to the printer, prints reg maks then the job and thats it.
You laminate then put the job back in and on the top menu select cut (next to print) in there is a list of jobs waiting to be cut only, select the file (checking the quantity to cut) and click ok, the printer finds the reg marks and then cuts the profile.

Colorrip is based on Wasatch and as far as I know so is Troop V5 but I could be wrong.

Know I’m going to get another bottle and get really pissed

That would work- How do I run a print with the cutpath processed but the cutter not enabled?

In the setup go to edit ,then properties. On the cutter tab there is the option to enable the cutter, untick this box to disable the cutter.

The cut only module is used by the cut option so make sure it is setup.

Hope this helps, as I said I’m a little pished at the mo.
