how do i export files as ai or eps into corel or adobe?

i think demo versions have this facility disabled

You can’t export from the demo version. If you were able, people could get the demo version & a simple cut driver & have almost all the benefits of a full version at the fraction of the cost.

There are also easier ways to get from Signlab to Corel Draw without exporting.

In the demo the export function is crippled, however it seems that the only files type that are available in the full version are hpgl,dxf(line,polyarc,polyline and spline).
Signlab 5 gives the option of 18 file types including the above and also ai,eps,svg,gad………….

Here is a list of SignLab e6.1 Import and Export filters that are included. This list is inclusive for the North American release, your mileage may very elsewhere. And if you have Adobe Acrobat or similar installed, you can always “print” to a .pdf based file.

I use Signlab 5 for all my design work but when I email customers a ‘screen shot’ of a layout I always use Corel, the difference in sharpness and colour clarity is huge.Try it yourself,if you have the same design on screen in Signlab and Corel it always looks better and sharper in Corel.

I see, never knew that before !
I used to have signlab on my pc, but it never got used, so I deleted it !!
So I can’t try the experiment. I guess it must be to do with the colour profile settings in Corel vs Signlab but its a bit beyond me.
I don’t think what Dewi said would help you in this cas because it will only capture what you have physically got on screen anyway, and so it will create a bitmap which will reduce the sharpness anyway, but I may be wrong.
Can’t you use Corel to design in and then import the design into Signlab to cut it ? Or are you so used to signlab that isn’t practical ?

Ah, I see the error in my subtle plan Nigel, screen capturing an image that the quality isn’t too good on in the first place, then further degrading it during the transfer. 😮 😆

I know the transfer from Corel to Signlab can be done using EPS (many posts about it on the board), could the same not be done in reverse? I agree with Nigel though, it may be better to use Corel and transfer to Signlab when ready to cut if possible… saves the headache. I’ve found Corel is quite intuitive and easy to do complex stuff really quick, unsure how this compares to Signlab though as I’ve never used Signlab.

Well I agree, but I’m a bit biased I guess, not that I have shares in Corel Corp or anything – but I have used it since version3 on floppy disc !
I honestly find it so easy to use myself and to teach to others aswell, it’s also unbeatable at flexibility in terms of what you can make it do with a little knowledge.
It’s not perfect by any means – (try putting a contour round some text and then looking how many nodes there are on the curved sections for example !) but on the whole I would recommend it to anyone.

In my opinion, having tried to make my Omega/Composer software do the simplest jobs is a nightmare and I almost always end up back in Corel again 1st. Signlab is much better but I still think for overall flexibility Corel is a real winner albeit you cant cut from it as is.

Anyway thats just what I think !

there is no need to use Corelcapture, simply hit the print scrn button on your keyboard and you can paste a screen shot into any application or email.

You’re right of course, but Capture will enable you to take a specific window only or just a select area and at a resolution of your choice, where the “printscreen” function only copies the whole screen at a low 72dpi? resolution.

This is going to be “scattered” response at best…

CADlink doesn’t offer “anti aliasing” inside the SignLab product, hence, that is why a “screen grab” from it will not render as “clear” as in CorelDRAW or any product that does support it. This is just one of a few real world examples as to why “we” would really like to see anti aliasing inside SignLab. This request was recently shared, at length, with one of the developers, so “maybe” sometime in the future we will see it realized. Then again, maybe not. The lack of this feature in earlier years and releases wasn’t as noticeable or impacting as it is in today’s “digital” output heavy environment.

Depending on the versions involved and method of installation, transferring from CD to SL can be as simple as a single “click” from CD to transfer it to SL, then another single “click” inside SL to place it. No need to save, export, open, import, etc. Just a simple transfer using the Application Launcher from within CD.

Nigel, Corel Corporation is no more, so no worry about the “shares” remark. Common stock shares were cashed out as the company was bought out by another company. And from one Gerber user to another, always glad to read of another success story! 🙄 Yea right!! 😉 That software is good at showcasing Gerber hardware, not such much for showcasing the “designer”. Maybe someday, but I’m not holding my breath.

For anybody that is interested (and has access privileges), there is a small Corel Capture dem available at this link, https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=1733. As Nigel states, it allows for much more flexibility then the using the Print Screen function inside the OS.
