Anyone please remind me how to use an object that you can use as a registration mark for each colour of vinyl when your layering each on top of each other ? I have done it before but Ive forgot how to.
ex 3 layers in corel with a line to appear in each 😉

theres probably numerous ways to do it….I’ve used a bar (rectangle) at the top of the image….make sure the bar is in the same place on every seperate colour.

lay your first colour down……match the bar on your next colour with the allready stuck one & so on & so on 🙂

That’s exactly what I’m looking for .. I have no problem fitting it struggling with keeping it on all colours if you catch my drift, I draw the box on the first layer how do i get it onto all the rest / in the same position?

    Thanks

personally I don’t use layers……never really seen the need for them

I would just draw the image on one layer (with the registration bar)…duplicate it for however many colours you have & delete as necessary.

Someone will probably tell you how to do it using layers…but as I say, I’ve never used them

Thanks, When i press color separations in corel x3 it brings up all ways four colors ( cyan, magenta, yellow, black ) even when im only using it for one color, Am i using the wrong color pallet – Mainly vinyl or is a setting somewhere ? Thanks again

the "seperations" you are talking about are only for when you are printing in four colour process….that is used in screen printing and litho to be able to produce full colour photographic images

don’t be confused by me using the word "seperations" in my drawing…that was only to indicate the 3 different images you would be cutting.

is the image you are trying to cut on multiple layers now?…..if it is I would have thought it would be as simple as drawing the registration bar on layer 1 then redrawing on top of layour 2,3 etc

Using copy and paste should lift the object and subsequently paste the object on your other layers. Should do the trick. This can be checked if you leave all your active layers visible.

May not be what you’re after vinyl wise but for future reference when printing separations objects ie. marks can be put on a ‘registration’ colour which is found at the bottom of the colour model dropdown. Any objects with this colour will appear on all plates when separated regardless of colour ie cmyk or spot.

Yes Alan this is what i was looking for , could you explain where to find it, Im using a standard color palette, what color pallet is best to use just for vinyl designs?

    In Corel
    Select object
Select fill tool (bucket) from tool bar on left
Click on Fill colour dialogue (1st icon in flyout)
    Click models tab
Choose ‘Registration Colour’ – last one of the drop down list
