Hi everyone, I’m a complete beginner with vinyl and corel draw, more used to embroidery and Wilcom software!

Ive had a play with cutting out names for garments and I’m now looking at trying out sign writing and logos for vehicles and signs.

The first problem i have found is how do i (once i have drawn up someones logo on corel) only cut out the bits that are the same color?

Hi, I’m not sure about Corel draw – sign lab for instance has a cut by colour option? another option would be to cut and paste the logo and delete the colours you don’t want.

Hope this helps or you find a better option.

    hi, welcome to the boards,

My name is Peter, I dont know yours, and I dont know you from Adam, so why should I give you any advise?

Sorry I am not being rude, but a little introduction about yourself in the say hello section may just elicit a response.

I am a sad old git and believe in old fashioned values,

I just would not walk into a room and ask advise without first getting to know people,

The sign boards are a wealth of info, shared amongst like minded people,
and unlike many other forums, we actually meet each other in real life.

Please take a little time to get to know us, you will find it very advantageous, to many people barge in and never get the advice they are looking for.

    OK rant over

can I offer you a drink?

    Peter

Draw the logo outlines in the relevant vinyl colours and group them together (Still as a coherent logo) select the group/colour you want to cut and select print. In the dialogue box select "print selection" and cut. Repeat for the other colours as necessary

As far as I know corel won’t cut directly so what add on are you using to do the cutting?

Michael Corel will cut direct if the cutter has a print driver.

I only use the print driver for cutting on my Roland which I only use for garment vinyl.

When doing vehicles and signs on my Graphtec I use cutting master which has the option to allow you to select the colours you want to cut.

When the box pops up for the printer there will (should) be about 4 check boxes to the left somewhere, one of them will say "Print Selection". Aslong as you have selected the sections you want to print on the main screen before you have got the print box up then it will just cut the selection.
