how do i crop in Corel Photo Paint v12 please?
Posted by Martin Grimmer on December 11, 2007 at 5:59 pmHi,
Am trying to find out how to crop in proportion in photo paint for a set pixel ratio – i.e. 1200px x 900px – but am struggling. Is this possible in photo paint v 12?
thanks
Martin

I’m not an expert with Photopaint V12 but select pixels as your units, open the object docker, bottom of docker is 5 icons, second one from left creates object from background, goto view tab and have rulers display, drag guides to position for size etc and ensure snap to guides is on, use crop tool to draw your rectangle snapping to the guides, double click within crop area to crop to required size. The crop box can be moved and resized in proportion or not be dragging the nodes that surround it.
Hope this helps

1. As mentioned before, make sure your working units are set to Pixels.
2. Select an area with the crop tool.
3. Open the ‘Mask Object’ toolbar by right clicking in the toolbar space.
4. Click on the advanced options button, its a double headed arrow. and you should now see the properties box for the cropped area, size, position, resolution etc.
5. Enter the values you want.
If the units are still displayed as previously set, you will have to close and relaunch the program. I have V12 and this is how I do it……….Hope it helps

Thanks Graeme – will check that and see as well – appreciated. (would have tried earlier but no time as have succeeded for the first time in getting the scale wrong on a van – sense of deja vu as re-cutting again for tomorrow…)

Have you had a chance to look at this tutorial:

Should give you the necessary pointers to scale items up from a photograph, it will never be 100% accurate as the camera will distort the image towards the edges.
