  • how do I create and cut logo with two colours?

Posted by Pamela Rogers on February 23, 2008 at 5:42 am

Sorry to put all you ‘pros’ through a probably simple question but if I need to create an outline around a letter in another color how do I do it in Flexi8?? For the life of me I can’t work out how to separate the colors and create the 2 or 3 mil overlap. Yes I am new to Flexisign……… Any help would be appreciated. Once I have done it the first time I should be away.
    Thanks people
    Pam.

    Hi

Think you might need the "colour trapping" option on the effects menu – think its the very bottom one below stripes/outline and the rest. If you overlap two objects it will automatically make the overlap the specified distance and whether you want to overlap light to dark colours or vice versa.

    Hope thats the one.

    Cheers

Are you wanting to print or cut the result?

I have worked out that I can do it by Effects, Outline and then clicking the shaded in red box and applying.

I was trying to cut a logo with a 3 mm brown outline and then needed to completely fill the middle with green thus needing to add a couple of mm for overlap or bleed.

Any other suggestions? Thanks for replying!

    it as simple as that

you must just select the out line tool i have it at a toolbar button which makes life easier.

if you want a solid background then select it with backing. You will see this in the design central. Then click OK.. You can also select it as an in-line. if you want to come in from the outside of the letter. If you want to print and contour cut then you select the contour option. It will automatically print reg marks on your printer.

As i can see you must be very new to flexi. Do yourself a favor and buy Mark Rugen’s DVD tutorial on flexi basics. He is a brilliant teacher and you will enjoy doing the exercises.

Go and watch his demo on flexi its about 15mins long you will see what im talking about.

Yes fairly new but learning quickly. As each job comes in a different application is needed I find.
I bought through Spandex Asia Pacific which is my vinyl supplier. They promised a support disc but as yet have not seen one. Will look up the one you suggest.
    Thanks again,
    Pam.
