  • how do i bend a graphic in flexisign please?

Posted by Matt Pike on December 9, 2007 at 10:49 pm

    Howdy 😀

I am using Flexisign Pro 7.6 v2 and all I want to do is take a image, and bend it in a slight arc to the dimensions of a 17" circle.

I just want the word Yamaha and a symbol to cut to put on my motorcycle wheel but it has to be at the same curvature as my 17" round rim.

I have been looking for a way to bend my graphic image in a arc but cant fathom it.

    Any ideas anyone please?

    Many thanks.

I dont know flexi Matt but it should be quite simple. not many people around just know, I would try the help files in flexi if you need a quick answer

Hmm am reading the help file now, can find info on turning text into a arc but not a graphic.

If I fathom it I will be sure to update the post with the answer for anyone else who may have this problem, but as it stands I cant work it out.

    Cheers anyway Peter 🙂

Fit object to path, that sound good to me 🙂

I’ll see if I can work that one out, not sure if I have to create a 17" diameter circle first then find the fit object to path symbol ?

I have a Foison C24 cutter, and still very much learning lol.

I may be leading you the wrong way, but in signlab, I would draw the arc, then select it and the graphic, then click on fit object to path.

    Not much help….am I

Thanks for your help so far guys.

Here is an image to better explain what I want to achieve :

I need the blue Yamaha and symbols to bend to that contour.

I could do with knowing what icons to click etc as some of the terminology escapes me 😳

The "yamaha" I would use a transform or distort command. the tuning forks, just rotate to suite

    Yeeeeeha 🙂

Thanks for your advice Peter, I cracked it 😀

So for anyone else that wishes to do this in flexisign you need to select the image, compound it, then its Effects, Distort, then choose the distorted shape in design central and drag to suit.

    Whola ..

Many thanks again Peter for the tips.

    Matt 🙂

    sorry if I am off-topic

but you could use image wrap in PS and you should be able to bend it and even better yet use it as a smart object.

    Hope this helps

    Henrik

PS I think this could be done in PS CS2 as well

    Hi there,
Make sure you use the correct Yamaha logo. The one that’s displayed is for Yamaha Musical Instruments. The ‘M’ in the Yamaha Motor logo is different from that of the Instruments one.

Just had a look on BOW out of interest, and there is no continuity, definitely no defined difference between the Yamaha sectors. Even on the bikes/motorsport logos, some of the center descenders on the ‘M’ touch the base line, others are just short.

Yamaha global use the M as above, however when you move to their motor powered equipment site, the center descender does change to one that touches the baseline.

hi only saw this now (been on holiday just got back) maybe a bit late? You must use the distort tool or alternatively if you have it as a font then you can use the text tool that types on top of curves, you can then in the design central adjust the height that you want the letter above the curve line.

    hope this helps

    Hi,
Im trying to also achieve this but not 100% sure on the curves ive created.
How do you know how much to curve/distor the text to match a 17" motorcycle rim?
I need to created text (like you) and make rim tape.
Im using artcut, i can curve the text but it can be set to a diameter.
I know my wheel is about 45cm width and heigh (i think) and about 0.5mm thick.
    Ad.

Matt you hold down on the text tool icon and it displays 4 different text styles, the 3rd one is "path text tool" then click on your line you want to follow and type away, then change the bits you dont like 🙂

Another way in Flexi 8 is to left click on the text tool (left-hand -sideof the screen)
and select the second text tool
