  • how can i export files from signlab into an illustrator mac?

Posted by expressgraphics on December 3, 2004 at 2:26 pm

    Hi,
we have a customer who has created artwork in Signlab 6 expert and is trying to export it so that we can print it from Illustrator on a mac. We’re not having much luck as the file appears unreadable with Illustrator saying it can’t ‘parse’ the file.
Do any of you guys have any experience of this and if so, know of a fix or workaround?
    Regards,
    John.

Are you exporting as AI or EPS or something else.

Try installing the Apple Color Lazer writer printer driver into Windows.
When it asks what port you to set the printer to, pick FILE
In Signlab , or any other program, print to the apple color lazer writer printer driver and whan it asks for a filename, give it an EPS extension.
You MIGHT have to give it a PS extension as technicly its not an EPS file

If they have Acrobat installed get them to make a PDF and try bringing that in to illustrator.

if it’s a vector image, when in signlab, ungroup the graphic, then break path, then export as ai. it works for me when i need to try and open anything on my mac !! 😛

One last thing. I went throught the e61 history.
There was an issue with e61 for a while where the AI/Eps bounding boX= line was incorrect.
This line is a comment in Ai/eps file and shouldnt be important but some programs pick up on it and complain.See if you can download the latest e61 or send me you email address and i can email you the latest export filter.
