  • how can i change colour of display panels?

Posted by Russell Huffer on January 10, 2008 at 10:34 pm

Long shot but I am after something like spray dye if such am item exists.

I have in stock 350 Plex velcro friendly panels that are used to build exhibition stands for one of my larger clients, they have just been bought out and now there corporate colours are red and grey not blue.

I do not want to throw these away unless that is the only option as they cost £35.00 each to replace and wondered if there was any way of changeing the colour.

    Regards

    Russell.

    Hi Russell
Not sure of the type of panel you are talking about but I replaced the actual cloth on some. Sourced the new material in Hickey’s Fabric in Dublin and stripped the panel and used spray on fabric glue to replace…..they looked brand new. I don’t think you will get a consistent finish by spraying dye as it isn’t the same as paint, it will absorb in patches depending on the evenness of the spray….if that makes sense.
    Hope that helps

give it a try and experiment on a small piece with a tin of spray paint, your main problem would be that the paint would rub off the material, and the coverage from blue to grey would take a bit of paint…give it ago 😀

    Hi Russell

I agree with Harry, but would recommend McGregor Plastics in Dublin for the material.

They sell the material (It’s called Nyloop) in an assortment of colours with adhesive surface on the back, so it’s like putting down vinyl. The nyloop does contract a little when the backing paper is removed so do a little at a time.

Contact number for McGregors is 01 6794091 and ask for Bernard or Richard.

    Cheers
