  • Hi tack coloured vinyl?

    Hi all,

Sure this was asked recently but can’t seem to find the thread.
Does anyone know of a high tack coloured range of vinyls?
I’ve had an enquiry for a quite a large amount of cut vinyl lettering to go on walls in a school/college but it has to be on high tack vinyl so the kids can’t pull them off.
I could out source them and get the colours printed and cut on the high tack print vinyl, but just seeing if anyone knows of a range of coloured high tack vinyl at all that I can just use in my cutter straight off the roll?

    Any ideas would be great!

    Pete.

Hexis does a Hightack CAD vinyl, although I’ve had limited success with cutting smaller text, as the glue’s rather thick.

Cheers for that David, could be absolutely perfect and could well be the deal breaker for me potentially getting the job!
Nearly all of the artwork is larger, 500-600mm high letters so no small weeding involved.
It’s actually not too badly priced considering too!

It’s belting stuff, but the trouble I’ve had, it’s as if the glue re-sticks after the blade cuts it, you’ll see when you get some it’s got a really thick, wet adhesive. Best to cut & weed asap, rather than cut loads on the roll and then work your way through weeding it.

We’ve done tons of school graphics and used normal vinyl with no problems or comebacks. I honestly don’t think it will make any difference, it may be stickier but a kid can stick pick at it and peel it off. In my experience all it will do is leave more damage to the paint.

just a thought, if its a painted wall why not use normal vinyl and unibond (pva and water)it after. I know it will go slightly glossy but would seal the edges of the vinyl at least

I’ve used normal vinyl before and you’re right, it usually sticks no problems. But on this occasion it’s not my project, I’ve just been asked to supply the vinyl and have been asked for hi-tack to decrease the likelihood of it coming away.
Same with the unibond idea… I’m not applying them and I think they want it to be as simple as possible, but it’s a good idea!

Currently quoting based on the Hexis stuff so we’ll see how it goes!
