Hi Steve, I’m new here myself, so maybe we can team up and change the status quo, “newbies rock” and all that !

    Thanks for your interest.
Rob, ref. sharing experience – no problem, advice available to all.

Less experienced with manufacture and would appreciate assistance with multi-layer vinyls i.e. getting 2 or more colours on to the same release liner at production end instead of multiple layers applied on site.

    Any offers?

    Graham,

What can I say? – I’ve just joined in and now I found out ex-convicts are allowed – but seriously, xenophobia is not one of my hang ups and I’m delighted to have made your aquaintance.

    Speak soon,

Hey Steve…They also let in ex-pats like me. Though I’ve been here longer than in the Uk. I did go to Swanley Comp though and lived in Swanley for 5 years.

    welcome to the site

    Hi Leeroy,

former residents of Swanley tend to keep it to themselves – someone must have loosened the straps behind your back to enable you to write in the first place!

thanks for the reply – any comment on my request for help with multi-layer graphics??

    keep taking the tablets,

    regards,

I try to keep it a dark secret Gray. It takes about two seconds though when I open my mouth and my cockney accent shines through.

I was born at the East London maternity hospital in Bow. Moved around a lot as a young kid South east coast, Gloustershire, and Kent. Came here at fifteen with the folks .

Now my dark secret is out. I also have a father who wears a black cape, breathes heavily and calls himself Lord Vader…But you’d know more about that than me “you little Jedi you.”

sorry Steve, I got carried away with my post to Gray.

Multi layering graphics before applying to the substrate creates problems with bubbling around the different layers when you finally apply to the substrate. Have a look in the demo section. There’s some really good ones there Mike explains it in his usual succinct manner. What are you going to be fitting to? Can you not take the substrate back to your workshop? If not, I’d be looking at fitting inside in a workshop on site ( if fitting to a vehicle or boat). It takes a small gust of wind to ruin your day.

Tell us all what you’re looking to do and I’m sure we can help.

    Cheers

    Thanks leeroy

I’ve checked out the demo area and it confirms my existing method is OK

I was really looking for insider tips to get the layers onto one sheet of release liner, ready to apply in one sheet on site (usually to a vehicle or a glass partition)

reason being it would be better to pepare the work in a controlled production situation rather than on site – installation rates are much higher than production rates and less time spent on site means more jobs completed in a day!

    cheers mate

i wouldnt advise a multilayer built-up vinyl graphic. if you do brave it then use a felt squeegee to apply it and be firm when applying.

as for putting them together in-house. weld them all so as they are one layer. lay each part into the next.. remember though.. if not done exactly right this two can cause bother with bubbles round the edges or edges not laying down how you would like them.
again use a felt squeegee as it helps glide of obsticles as oppossed to trapping the air, as a nylon squeegee does.
