Hi All, another new comer some might say! 🙂

Well just to present myself, i got to say 1st of all that my english is not that bad but sometimes with technical stuff, i’ve to go to the dictionary, soo if someone doesn’t understand me i can conclude you need to buy your own dictionary; :lol1: (just kidding, let me know and i’ll re-write it soon as i can) but im learning fast just like Dennis (last presentation topic).

    About myself:
    Name: Vitor Brito
Nick: Britchenko (long story plz don’t ask)
    Age: 28
    Location: Albufeira, Algarve, South Portugal
Hobbies: Astronomy, Astrophotography, Aeromodels :plane: , Fishing, Radio Scanning, after this and the job all the spare time is spent playing America’s Army (:) :peek:

I’ve been working in print companies (with CorelDraw, Photoshop, Illustrator, Quarkexpress, and all pre-printing stuff), for 6 years now, last 2 years i’ve been producing advertisements for magazines, some published in England (i got some advertisements wich i draw in "International Homes", Homes Overseas", etc… but im starting soon (March, in my best prediction),a "consortium" with a friend that already as a copy center and digital printing, i’ll go for the same shop (plenty space) but working with awards and engraving, adn handling some of he’s Design stuff, this way we can share clients and resources without messing with each other.
Im buying a Laser Engraver (Indimco 30W), and a few more finishing machines.

I’ve been reading your forum for a few months now, and i thought would be time to register myself, and maybe real soon do the subscription and be able to read your tutorials, wich i can’t now 🙁 .
Soo i’ll come in a while to share my job experiences, and ask for some help, of course in my short knowledge i’ll be very happy if i can help someone else (maybe handling diferent file formats (?) ).

    Cya all

    Hi and welcome Britchenko 😀

    quote Britchenko:

Nick: Britchenko (long story plz don’t ask)

I’m going to bite here (as no-one else has :lol1: ) and ask where your nickname came from? 😀 If its a really really long story, you could always do it in a 3 part mini-series… we could have a chapter every day over the weekend, it could become more addictive than a TV soap opera 😀

    Cheers, Dewi

Thanks everyone for that warm welcome!!! :thumbup2:

I’ll try to answer everyone’s doubts by order, except u Dewi, 😉 ehehe

Peter, i can imagine u’ve been there or soo, did u enjoy it? and yes i’m very close 16 kms (10 miles +/-) from “Quarteira”.

Rob, thx for that advice i know famous Rodney posts from another forum, and as far as i can see he’s just a great guy, always there for the newbies and always very accurate in he’s thought’s. I ordered already the Laser, and i think i followed Rodney on this one, as one of he’s big concerns about hardware is the assistance, and i choosed the one’s closer and the one’s that i had better opinions from other users, just lucky me that they were the same company. 🙂
In fact i always try to know if Rodney got any opinion about what im looking for as i’ve lived in Africa, and i know things there are much more dificult to achieve than here in Europe, unfortunately Portugal seems to be very close to Africa in those issues, maybe those whom have been here agree with me!

John, at this time not very warm (18ºC during day), but i believe it’s much warmer then UK, 😎 :cheer:.

Dewi, ok just to tell it’s not a big deal, but everybody uses to ask soo i took advance this time, but it’s really a long story, since almost kindergarden 😛 ; and if i was going to write that soap, i wouldn’t have time to enter this business maybe i’ll do it on my retirement. eheheh!

To all the others i didn’t mentioned but welcomed me, a BIG HUG!!!

Thank you all! I feel almost home! 🙂 😳

Hi Again! 😀 . I’ve been away from the boards for a long time although once in a while i always kept checking it.

I’m very happy because I’ve been reading the boards again and i still can find some very familiar faces.

I’ve been working in Digital Print, Vinyl Cutting and application, Design, Laser Engraving, etc for the last 11 years, including the last 5 with my own company, but after a big set back last year (fire in my shop, and a bad insurance company), things just got too complicated, and i can’t keep it no more. 😥
In my country and business area things are very complicated (lots of companies closing, FMI banging @ our door, etc), soo i decided to try a different approach and work abroad if i can find a decent job, as this is what I really love to do.

This time I’m here to require some help and guidance on where to look for employment abroad, my main will would be UK but I’d be grateful if i can find something that suits me elsewhere.

My request to you all goes in finding the best sites to look for jobs, send CV’s, etc in sign making industry, because all the other job sites are to extensive and they do not seem to know this industry at all, or maybe I’m approaching them the wrong way (how should i research better for jobs in this industry?)

Thank you all for reading, and of course thanks in advance to any help i can get.

    Thank You Neil & Linn.

@ Linn – I’m having trouble finding the proper words to research for jobs and websites in UK, in this trade.
If it were you which would be your first website to advertise for a job?

Good to hear from u Britchenko, sorry to hear about your circumstances but it isn’t easy here in the UK, many companies are struggling especially in the South West. The odd thing is the company I worked for before actually moved to your country as it seemed a better deal, he is now doing swimming pool filters instead of printing.

    hope it works out

    what i will say is…

    against you….
you owned your own company. as much as i am sure you now want to be rid of hassle and all the crap that’s involved of being a company owner. its is something the employer needs to give serious thought to.
by that i mean, you do not want to train and invite a stranger to know your company and its customers, with the prospect that once you find your feet you will start up 5 minutes down the road from them!

please please do not take that wrong mate, its just advice to consider….

on the flip side… if you are very good t your job, regardless to economy downturn. you will get a job easy! our trade is littered by cowboy employers and staff. finding the genuine article is worth investing in.

    Point taken Robert.
What is your address? Seems a nice place to open a new company. :lol1:

I understand perfectly your point of view, and probably I’d think the same way.

On my behalf I’ve to say that other personal circumstances apply (just got off an 11 year relationship), by that i mean: I probably have less problems finding a job than the majority of people, but all circumstances balanced at 33y like I’m, this is a route that I’d like to check. I will be looking for a restart in life,as i think i speak a reasonable English, UK seems like a good option.
Of course that in that calculation i also consider that working for someone else here means that at maximum I’ll get between 3.63£ / 5.18£ hourly rate while I’d expect a bit more if working in your country.
By the way can someone tell me the hourly wage paid there in this business, even if not accurate, just to get an idea?

Thank you for your opinion at least i learned that i shouldn’t tell my future next boss everything that I’ve done before. 😉
