Just a side line you could be missing out on as regards blade disposal, why not get folk to send their blades to you for a small fee, cash cough cough and you could get your girlfriend to take them to work ( job done) of course you might have to buy her a pair of shoes now and again, but what the hell. So smiles around.

If anyone wants to wrap each blade in a 5 pound note for safety, I’d be happy to dispose of it! 😉

She aint getting any more shoes, she’s like Imelda bleeding Marcos as it is!

There was a thread a coupla days ago….can’t remember the outcome but scalpel blades are clinical waste and shouldn’t be chucked in the bin. Medical practices have them collected but I can’t see that being too realistic. Just being sensible is the best thing to do. Just don’t put them in a paper bag and leave them on a park bench near to a primary school……

you mean i shouldnt give them free with vinyl offcuts to the playgroup ?

i think i’ll go with the tin idea, thanks for the link.

    Andy
I don’t think they are classed as clinical waste for what we all do( apart from stabbing yoursef because youv’e forgotten to retract, can’t also sue trouser makers for all the small holes that appear in the pocket area)
ours go in a plastic type box that we get straight edged razor blades in when full sealed and out into skip type thing that I pay to get emptied :lol1:

No sorry, not clinical waste, but sharps. It’s stupid because nobody would care about a razor sharp bit of plastic in a bin. Common sense is the answer, make them safe as you say.

Expect a new H&S directive to come out soon. Any one using paper on a regular basis will need to conduct a risk assesment to ascertain the possibilty of paper cuts occuring in the workplace. 🙄
