    Hi Everyone 😎

I’ve been in the engraving and sign industry for 30years now, but until I moved out to Australia I had only used a laser engraver on 2 occasions and that was very basic use over 15 years ago, loads of experience with computer engravers, plotters, Gerber edge, digital printers etc, never expecting to go back to my early years in engraving.

Having landed my self a job running a full-on engraving shop in Brisbane and we have 2 laser machines (40watt Gravograph, 25watt Epilog, a rotary Gravograph engraver and a badge printer)
I need is some help from you guys with the general settings for a 40watt LS600 XL GRAVOGRAPH laser engraver.
What I need is guidance on the power and speed settings for all the materials that you people in UK signboard land can recommend to be the best to get a good quality job out of the Bloody thing! It is in good working order, the lens is OK.

Also it’s driving me crazy 👿 that the people who supplied the machine are not the most knowledgeable and seem to be suggesting that every job has to be trial and erro. (hot) r NOT A GOOD THING WHEN YOUR AVERAGE JOB QUANTITY IS 100+

Can any one out there please help, the settings for any material would help, it will give me a bench mark to start from even if I do have to adjust for the different jobs.

A VERY P*@@!D OFF Pom in Aus

    Many Thanks
    GLEN

They right , there are suggested starting points , but most materials will require a trial and error approach until you have a firm database yourself. There ae various issues ,. such as 40 w is not always 40w , it could be 38 or it could be 45 and the speed of one brand of laser cannot be equated to others. Differing dpi’s will change the speed requirments too
The laser processes a ton of materials and the properies of various materials round the world change.
Always try to run the laser as fast a possible , 100% speed on engraving is a good start point , on somethng like acrylic , i would suggest to start at 50% power , 100% speed , to cut 3mm , I would suggest 100% power and 4% speed. It’s almost impossible to give exact settings. I run 6 lasers and have a lot of experience , so if you have any questions or issues , just ask me and perhaps I can help.
