Ive been asked by a good customer to do something "elegant" with his existing logo for display on the chimney breast of his office. He has said he pictures it as "Sticking Out".

I could go the easy route of just getting the letters flat cut and mount on locators but I am not sure the swirl in the logo will be a cuttable piece.

Id like to do something eye catching and special for him as their is the potential for alot of work from him.

Does anyone have any ideas that can stir up my creative juices?

Its just the logo to the left of the image he wants.

A lot will depend on the size as it may work out some parts will be very small and locator’s on the backs will just look bad

Thats my worry Richard. I was thinking about trying to come up with something where I could just use VHB tape and flat cut letters to still give a sort of embossed look.

Im going down when I get a chance to see the area, but id imagine it to be a standard sized Chimney Breast in a converted Victorian House.

Im expecting the area to be about 72" wide max.

As Rich says it would depend on the size but you could glue 3mm clear acrylic rods to the backs if they are pretty small

I quite fancy using a brushed stainless fascia but worry the grey letters will look lost.

Im actually looking forward to this one, makes a change from plain vinyl.

If you can get away with it I made this sign using clear acrylic rod, looked great, you could mount yours like this

That looks superb. Do you buy the clear rod pre-cut or cut it in house?

I think you can buy them from the likes of Shopkit but we cut ours from 3m lengths

We also made a load of little MDF jigs to help keep the pegs straight while the tensol was going off

As an alternative solution for you – if the wall is flat.

I’ve just got the order for a couple of signs that the client had envisioned as flat cut…but the stroke on the text was too thin…and the main focus would turn into the stand-offs and not the sign. ie. they’d be an eyesore.

Talked him into some 8mm clear flame polished acrylic with vinyl on the rear & nickel plated studs.

Done a few of these…never fails to impress. They just look so ‘expensive’!

…helluva lot more money in it for me too as it’s all kept in-house.

Well I went to see the customer today and it turns out he is quite happy with an written acryllic board with flame polished edges on chrome stand offs.

Pity, I was looking forward to trying some new methods.

Im after opinions on the two ideas for the office plaque. I like the coloured one standing off the white (cheers for the help Dave) but the customer is keen on etch against clear. The wall is red and I think etch on clear will be lost against red. Ive also toyed with an all silver logo but still prefer the clear on white.
