    Hi everyone,

We are looking for a printable vinyl for a lightbox.

Will be for pos stands. Can be put on either clear or opal perspex.

Never used the stuff before so dont know what brands to turn to.

    Any tips or recommendations.
    Thanks

    Hi Aaron,

We recently used James at group 101 for some Duratrans which looked great. Give him a shout.

We do mainly backlit menus but use a polyester backlit film for this as they slide into menu cases as opposed to sticking to the acrylic. We buy that via http://www.Europoint.co, but you can source via most other usual suspects.

If you only have a one off type print to do, i would suggest printing onto regular clear/white backed digital media, and trying that. I have done this in the past and worked equally as well. this was mounted onto opal acrylic "not clear" because the opal helps diffuse and spread the light.

regardless to what you use, do a test print and illuminate it to make sure you are happy. I say this because once illuminated you can get a very washed out appearance and requires you to darken the prints, increases the passes etc to get the desired effect.

Ok so ive ran a few print tests on 5mm opal with clear vinyl printed. Thought i would upload my findings…

    Top to bottom print order
    Rf640 uv ink
    sp540i solvent
    Rf640 uv ink overprint
    sp540i solvent overprint.

I think the sp540i seems to be giving me the best results but im sure i could increase the contrast on the uv ink!

    Thanks for the tips!

We always print a standard clear and mount to 0.5 light transit opal.

Or we also now print direct to opal and this works very well too
