HELP! signlab /anagraph cutting problem.
Posted by Nigel Hindley on February 22, 2011 at 2:24 pmWe have just installed a new computer (well new to us windows xp) and and have re-installed Signlab (version e6 expert) and everything seemed to go fine.
But everything is cutting at just 40% of the size on screen? does anyone know of any setting that may have changed etc?
Never had this problem before?
PLEASE HELP!
Nigel

Could be a scaling thing either with the plotter or possibly the cutter ini file in Signlab. Just guessing though.

Alan DHi Alan, going through manuals etc just now the scaling is definitely off I was thinking something may have reset, would you know where this setting would be on signlab.
The anagraph cutter we have is pretty old with no setting for this (that we know of?

common problem on a graphtec when the step values don’t match software – plotter
-
thanks Chris, the software has run the plotter before though.
The software nor the plotter have changed, just the computer? i feel that’s something has just reset or adjusted?
really appreciate any info that shows where to find settings that can possible adjust the scaling?
-
Yer but if you have a new computer Nigel you would have to input the step values when you first set up the plotter to run from the software.

Nigel send a screen shot it might help us work out whats going on

Martin, never had to do this before when changing the comp? how you do that?
Ruairi, the screen looks the same all is fine with the screen? it looks ok the size is correct its just cutting 40% smaller than it should?

Nigel if it was a PC setting I am pretty sure if in front of it I could find it but as I have not used V6 screenshots might help to point you in the right direction! it is a bit of a shot in the dark but if you are beat it might work.
First thing I would try is a reinstall, PC Reboot etc. often they seem too simple but they solve 90% of PC problems! (if you havent already)

Hi Rurairi, i see what you mean, I have rebooted, reinstalled etc, this is doing my nut in!

we changed the default port from com 2 to com 1 and it cut right once then stopped the default didnt change back it stayed on Com 1?
aagghhh!

Nigel, look in the Signlab folder for an ini file relating to the plotter, a couple of lines down will be an entry for page size and resolution, the resolution should match the plotter as Chris says but I don’t know how to access that control on the cutter.

:lol1:
I know what its like i have bought two identical laptops and one prints to the colour printer and the other wont!!
I am not sure how your printer appears in the control panel bit but did you try accessing the printer properties from there as it might have a different set of settings from there.
When I had pressure issues in signlab I went through the cutter setup in the file menu and unchecked a box making the software overwrite the machine pressure settings. You probably have a similar issue!

Your anagraph can be set to 4 differant resolutions.
I believe your plotter is ser for 2540 steps per inch while your Signlab driver is set for 1000 steps per inch.
That would explain the 40% size reduction.In Signlab 6, go to Cut/Plotting Defaults and press the Setup Button.
Plotter Setup dialog should appear.
Press ALT E ont eh keyboard and NotePad will appear with your driver ini file.You should see the following
[setup]
plottername=Anagraph Express Plotters (HPGL)
manufacturer=Anagraph
page=1010100,13847,1000
scale=1000,1000,1000Change the 4 red "1000"s to 2540 and save the file in Notepad.
Then try cutting. -
sorry, didnt see the Page 2 posts and that you solved it.
