    Hello likeminded people.
I have a converted Mutoh Falcon two, wide format printer.
It now thinks its a Rockhopper two.(and so do i ).
Its had an eco solvent plus conversion kit applied.
Had a number of teething probs – including the chap who sold it being hospitalised (you’d think he would still answer his phone)
Current prob is error – Waste ink tank full (this consists of a glass coffee jar taped to the legs (the machines- not mine- we are pretty posh here at Awesome Signs and Printing
This may be dumb – but i have no idea why the message is showing (no the coffee jars not full), and dont know how to clear it.
I have taken the machine to bits – which always seems like a good idea at the time. But no change. One clue is behind the plastic side panel there is a black, and black/white thin wire twisted together. When i untwist them i get the message – No waste tank. ??
Anybody know what size hammer i need to fix this ?
Any help/ suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Daryl

    Daryl,

Normlly there is a little cradle in which the waste ink tank sits. At the bottom of this cradle is a micro-switch. The printer keeps track of how much ink it has put in the waste tank, and when it thinks it is full you get the message you are seeing. Removing and replacing the waste bottle triggers this microswitch and tells the printer that the bottle has been emptied. It will also prompt you on the control panel to confirm that you have emptied the tank. All this is to protect your carpet !

I have absolutley no idea why the chap who did the conversion felt it necessary to change this cradle – and to replace it with a coffee jar – but I would be tempted to connect these twisted pair wires to a small switch and try opening and closing the switch when it prompts you to change the tank.

If this doesn’t work, either post back here or send me a PM, and I will have a look at the circuit diagram to see how the switch should be triggered (I don’t have them with me at the moment).

    Good Luck

    Mike Antrum.
