A while ago l read an article in the "Signlink" magazine about a programme that acted as a photoshop filter for cutting out an object on a photo.
It looked extremely simple and easy to use, does anyone know the name of it?

    Billy,

Haven’t seen the Signlink article – but have used Mask Pro from what used to be Extensis – they have been bought by Onone Software. I’ve used an earlier version which worked pretty well. I bought as part of their Photoshop Suite as can be expensive on its own. You can try a 30 day download. Details here if I can link properly: http://www.ononesoftware.com/detail.php?prodLine_id=4

Corel Knockout also removes backgound but I prefer the Mask Pro.

Photoshops own filter – extract – is pretty good too sometimes. You could extract, select and create path if you needed a cut line.

I have a program called Fluid Mask that does this. It is on my Mac, but Vertus who make it have just released a Windows version.

It is one of the best add ins I have purchased. It saves so much time and is quite easy to use.

    Thanks for that.
I think the one in SignLink was Fluid Mask.

Here’s a tip , once you have a bitmap with a removed background , corel 13 has a new function called create boundry , what this does is put a vector line around any objects you select and thus the bitmap can be printed and cut VERY easily. IE if you have a butterfly and you remove background , corel will create a die line to cut it (which you can offset etc)
Works extremely well with very complex vector graphics and so forth. Corel trace also has a remove background function if you trace bitmaps.
