HELP please on pricing for post signs
Hi all,
Please could I have some help on pricing.
signs will be A4 A3 A2 on 6ft poles.
What do you charge for?
the hole, in soft ground and in cement surface etc 6ft post metal.
cost for hole fitting post etc.
Also the same size signs fixed to walls and fences.
I can work out the price of the signs, materials just not the fitting.
Will be lots of them for me to do over a few weeks.
Or would it be better to charge by the hr for fitting and estimate total time to fit?
Please help on prices as I have no idea on pricing for this type of work.

I am no expert as I’ve not done this myself.
All materials add appropriate mark up as usual. Ie post mix. 1 bag per hole? Number of holes?
Digging the holes… How long do you think it will take?
I work on a 1/2 or full day rate, for both 1 and 2 men. A job that I estimate will take 2 hours could take 4. Plus, if I am going fitting at 2pm, get back at 4 that stops me doing much before and after.
If I really do think a jobs only going to take 30mins I charge per hour. I make sure it works out dearer to pay me to work 1/2 a day by the hour, than paying 1/2 day rates. If I like the customer or i should get more work, as a gesture of good will I’ll charge the lesser day rate.
Still scope for getting it wrong though. -

Thanks for the info, just a hard one to price as the jobs are all over the county.
Plus you never know how long a hole will take.I will need to hire or buy a CAT plus travel time etc. It has taken me 2 days so far just to survey the jobs.
Material prices are fine just mark up. But I don’t want the labor to seem expensive, and I don’t want to work for a week or so for nought.
Dose anyone have a fixed price system for hole digging etc?
