    Hi all,

i’ve noticed a lot of nice window etch jobs in the portfolio recently and having just been asked to do an etch job I thought I’d ask you experts for some advice… (creep creep)

We’ve got 2 windows measuring 2880mm wide x 2290mm high and the client wants it’s completely covered in etch film with a paragraph of text cut through the middle of one window, and logos cut out of the other.

To my knowledge we can only buy etch vinyl in 1220 wide, so it would have to have joins in it. I’m concerned the joins would open up in summer when the sun heats up the vinyl. Would you join it? Or would you encourage him to alter the design so as not to have joins in?

Any comments on how you would tackle such a project would be gratefully received as usual.

If you can’t design a break in the panels into it, then overlap it slightly. A couple of mm should be plenty. I would offer a design with no joins using some separate panels or something, then let him decide.

I agree, give him an option that means you have no joins. An obvious break in the design might be better than a small overlap. Not to mention better for fitting! 😀
