Okay i have got design to do for a vehicle wrap for my client, i am doing a design for a 1991 Mitsubishi 4g63 galant for racing. I am just not clear on certain stuff as in how to proceed to design, i use photoshop and illustrator , well more photoshop. I was told i need a ai file of the car to work with but checking out sites and dont see any site that have 1991 vehicles, plus the price right now is a little heavy for me ( any good prices of one let me know or any site that provde them free let me know), so now i have have a "ai" file, so i wondering to take a pic of the car and design on it. K if i do that, i have to measure the car, do i have to measure the entire car panel to panel and if so how do i design on it and to re size it properly so its fit exact for whoever wraping the vehicle. I am bascaily new in car wrap designs and there mesurements and how to revise based of my design.

So anyone with help i would gladly love to hear and learn thx. my msn is (mod-edit)

The best and easiest way to scale a car is to take a measuring tape, run it the length of the car stand back and take a photo. Then do that for all the detailed sections. Blow it up to the overall length in photoshop and make the layer at like a 25-30% opacity and lock the layer (its easier to work on then) Chances are finding templates for cars older then 1993 will be difficult, its not to mainstream. No templates beat good old hard measurements that you took yourself. That way if its wrong, theres only one person to point the finger at 😉 if you do the windows its always a good idea to add about 5" each side of bleed so its easier to move around and gives you a little more play room. Windows usually have a curve to them or taper off so that extra material helps.

mhm thx alot, cool much cleary now, so here is my plan correct me if anything meaure the full length and width of the car and blow it up to that size. Then measure the roof an the bonnet etc. So it look like i have about 8 the most prints for different section of the car or should i design ti for one big print (dont see how that is possible though :D). O by the way u know any tutorials on the Internet so i can always jump to that when i am not online?

You will have a print for the sides/rear/bonnet/roof.

300 dpi might be too big to work on depending on your PC so 150dpi might be more comfortable and still look ok.
