  • Help! No-one stocks JAC vinyl anymore!?

Posted by Gwaredd Steele on March 14, 2006 at 11:02 am

    Morning all.

I have exclusively stocked JAC serisign (8 year) vinyl for over 5 years now & built up a good range.

Running low on a few colours, I phoned Vinyl Logistics to place a big order, only to be told that they don’t stock it anymore.

    WTF? Sucker punch or what?!

No letter, no phonecall, nothing. They now stock Ritrama (not great) Aslan (good chrome & brushed alli effect, that’s all) & their new range, GMi (absolute crap. Tried it last year & it was awfull)

So, now I’m at a loss what to do & where to go. Vinyl logistics were the only company in the UK that stocked it.

In the past, I have used Mactac 9800 & Avery 800 series, but the JAC was so much cheaper & just as good IMO.

I was paying about £1.40 for B&W, £1.50 for colours & £1.60 for metallics per meter (610mm width)

Anyone help me out here with recomendations?

    Cheers,

    Gwaredd.

Same problem here mate. Used jac for approx 2.5 yrs from vlogistics who were really easy to deal with, with no problems at all. Then nowt.

Tried meta. mmmmmm Not too good in my opinion.

Tried oracle. Excellent product. Cheaper than meta and jac.

    Give europoint a call.

😛 Exactly what I did mate. Very good prices straight out the box. They are coming to see me next Wednesday.

Are you going for the 751 range or the economy 5-7 year stuff?

Vinyl Logistics have dropped a bollock if you ask me. Shame, as they are a great company to deal with, like you say.

    Cheers,

    Gwaredd.

For the record the 751c is a cast product at a calendered price, which is real good value. I use 651 for most things. It weeds pretty much the same as jac 8yr. Oracle do a vinyl for most applications. Banner, digital print(eco+sol), wrap etc.

I try not to use any other vinyl unless its a rare job where something different is needed, just for the plain reason that its easier dealing with the same people all the time. The staff are really helpfull too.

I may be wrong, but didn’t JAC get taken over by LG? JAC was discontinued here a year ago. No one was told either, it just disappeared off the market.

I stayed with Oracal too. They are great products, and the local distributor here has redefined the word ‘service’

    Cheers

Oh it’s not my imagination then! I’m just cutting out a van with GMI vinyl, and it’s awful. I haven’t got time to order from anyone else now. I’ve been really happy with Vinyl Logistics since day dot. Their service is great, and the staff are really nice & helpful, but I didn’t know they had changed suppliers until I placed an order. I keep asking for swatches as the colours don’t match the JAC range, but they’re still waiting for them from GMI…..

I thought I might have just been having a bad day – the plotter lost tracking coz the vinyl’s too “loose” on the roll, so I’ve just had to re-cut a large portion…..and it’s bloomin awful to weed as well.

    Aaaaargh

    I needed that little rant…….

Nah, not welsh, only the name is & I prefer the Welsh spelling of it as opposed the English way. Wiltshire boy me. Ooh Arrrrr…

Am tempted by mactac 9800, they have a fantastic colour range, but will wait & see what Europoint have to offer when they visit RE Oracle.

Seems Vinyl Logistics ‘letters’ didn’t reach many people at all!!!

Shame. If they started stocking mactac or Oracle etc, I’d stay with them in a shot.

    Cheers,

    Gwaredd.

i would just like to add as others have said the company Vinyl Logistics has always been great at getting things right i.e prices, orders and deliveries etc etc
however this must of lost them a good few customers due to the fact they cant offer a better vinyl or i say they cant they haven’t been on to me to ask why I’m not using them any more
may be they don’t need us any more !!!!!
i wanted 50 meters of lg reflective the other day and they did offer me a good deal but needed a few colours at the same time had they kept another replacement from the jac it would have been a good ish order i had to get it from another supplier

Europoint do it for me now. 751c and 651 all the way, not keen on the edge foils..Print One every time..

Steve Beckwith…right laugh, amiable guy, tries to help.
good prices on all my requirements, just wish they’d get their finger out as a group and import Convex from the ‘states.

I believe Avery bought Jac probably around a year ago but time flies could be longer !! Might be different in Oz ?

Thanks Cammy. I think you are right actually. I seem to remember something to that effect in the Avery Newsletter at the time, now that you have jogged my memory.
