help needed please with perspective layout?
hey all, wonder if ya’ll could help here, i want to get a twist in the image below, i’ve made all the lines, and have been playing with distort and perspective tools for ages, but just cannot seem to find the right tool, or seem unable to release the design from the peramiters that the tools use,
ie, if i go too far with perspective, it resorts to its original form, and i cant release it from those confines of the program,
ie… i’d like to be able to just grab the middle stretcher thingameebob (the black square used to adjust size) and just flip it over the design, without the two end ones following suit, ya follow me ?
the end result / effect i want to achieve, is as per the dna strand above the grid,
any help would be great !

lol, is it just me, or does anyone else see the light orangy coloured dots appear at the junctions of the larger lines as they cross ???!! like an old optical illusion i’ve seen somewhere before !

Am I thinking the same way here..
one thing with my method is you got to draw the intersecting lines on a grid and not the way I have shown, you do need to join the DNA together and then you can hopefully use the envelope feature to bend it all together
Mines just showing the old blend tool and rotation a line to an 180deg rotated line to make the lines cross over..
might not be of any help

thanks dave, i can see where you’re coming from, think i need some sleep first, then read ti again, head’s spinning a bit ! the design i want isnt exactly a dna strand, i just used that as an example as to what the over all effect would be,
maybe a corkscrew would’ve been a better verbal description, literally want to grab one end and twist it ! then bend it about a bit with the envelope. needs to be lines like those too !

Don’t use the perspective tool, use the envelope one.
