I have a job to price, Its a 6m+ long sign tray, customer wants it to be in one piece with no joins, not sure how Id be fixed for that. so would have to be aluminium if they do them that long., he wants it lit like in the shop next door pictured.
I haven’t done a back lit illuminated tray before, so not sure of costing, theres the tray, the lights, perspex letters, & the cutting of the letters from the tray to consider so Im at a bit of a loss really, Dimensions are 6570mm x 685mm

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi Steve

I did a couple of these last year and quoted on a few more. Unless you are going to be machining the panels in-house, make sure you get a detailed drawing over to the cutters and a firm quote. ( This is the most expensive part ! )

I was also in the situation where a customer was adamant they wanted it in one piece ( again 6m + ), I basically told them while not impossible it was totally unrealistic for this type of sign and suggested a flex-face system if they didn’t like the idea of a join.

Best advice I can give mate is to speak with one or two of the trade fabricators. Materials may depend on design but have a look at using a composite board for the trays, they will need internal support if large parts of the face is machined out !

Sorry thats not a huge amount of help, regarding costs. . . These signs are never going to be cheap, but then the customer is getting a totally bespoke sign and not another generic light box some vinyl stuck on it !

    Best of luck 😀
