Does anyone here regularly do billboards? What are the normal values for trim, safety area for a 3000mm x 10000mm billboard?
    Thanks

i have done a few and learnt it’s best to get the info from the fitting company as they have a nasty habit of rejecting posters that aren’t to their exact spec.

I am actually doing the fitting – someone else is doing the design. I need to give the designers the trim and safety area – I’m not sure what to tell them. The actual area of the poster is 3000mm x 10000mm, what do I say for trim and safety. They insist on these values.

well you can choose what ever your comfy with. Some of the ones i have done have a 25mm overlap on the edges that join.

    Thanks Colin,
The overlap between the joints I do at my end. Its the trim and safety area around the edge of the whole graphic that they are after. It’s not something that I will use as I will be printing the graphics, however they are insisting on these values, and I don’t know what to tell them without sounding unprofessional.
    Thanks

Do you know what the trim and safety area is exactly? In terms of definition of those terms?

Peter, As far as I am aware, trim is where the sign will be cut – safety area is where the graphics will go without getting too close to the trim?
but what are suitable values? I have always managed to get by without needing this, but the designer whats them and I need to give him some values…..
